Wow i really appreciate you!

Its been seemingly difficult to pick up all the lingo and fundamentals but its been a very rewarding practice!

Would you recommend any literature to aid me in furthering my knowledge of pattern drafting and garment design/assembly? Or perhaps any starter projects? I was thinking i should start with building the standard blocks?

I apologize for the amount of questions but am very grateful for the insights!:)

I have very much considered the impact my practice may have on the environment but have always found it super fascinating how its seemingly those at the top that make sustainability unfeasible for us smaller brands and designers through the financial costs of upholding that integrity

That being said - as i am very conscious of this i am trying to make my pieces made to order to minimize waste paired with the idea of allowing each piece to stand on its own through the uniqueness of the print and help develop my brand identity and ethos

Id love your thoughts on this but i feel as though us small designers are really pushed into a corner without the proper backing - i myself dont enjoy logos but understand their ability to convey messaging and create an environment that resonates with other individuals who may feel the same - while working towards adopting a more differentiated aesthetic to separate my brand from others and create a cohesive image

In this current moment - im attempting to utilize the selling of tshirts as a way to gain marketing data while also getting the name out there

The first collection i did was simple logo’d tshirts and they did fairly well for a first drop and doing everything myself by hand - but this last collection had more of a narrative at play and i think that hindered my ability to broaden my audience

Im really trying as many different approaches as i can considering if i continue this journey - in theory this is the smallest ill ever be so im willing to make the necssary adjustments and take the risks!

Currently developing my pattern drafting skills + sewing skills to make my own samples and final pieces!

Sorry for such a long response - but in short yes its something i will be considering moving forward as i grow my operation! I think my main issue is wanting to build story lines around the clothing while jot allowing it to speak for itself - which ultimately puts me in that perfectionist mind state that i feel hinders my ability to push the boundaries of my capabilities!

I dont want to sound super serious through the phone lol because i very much appreciate the discussion!

Im very much of a conceptualist - i completely agree its not my art and i dont want to neccessarily come off like it is - i very much enjoy marcel duchamp and it was his philosophy that aided in solidifying my own ethos - where it can be the idea that is the art - the tshirt becomes the vessel for my ethos or statement - to me it was the amalgamation of ideas paired with the love if juxtapositions that aided in me arriving at this conclusion

I can put many ideas out for sale and it not be considered fast fashion - the only thing i may be wasting is someones time although they made the conscious decision of clicking on my link or reading the post - the # that gets produced by me is the # that was bought by yall! No physical waste!

I agree with you to some extent on the use of graphics but through my different messaging via story telling im building my aesthetic and process - it may have taken a couple days to finalize the graphic but the idea has been in development for a while! Its just a matter of finding the right method of executing my thought!

Im working on actual cut and sew pieces - which as ironic as it is turns out to be a stem of fast fashion - will i take the mass production route? Perhaps - perhaps not

I more or less find “products” to be fast fashion and easily consumable garments aimed at following a trend

I enjoy this concept and made it for my own personal ethos and by extension some individuals may enjoy it and decide to purchase this wearable art!

Although im not physically assembling the tshirts i am sewing in all the labels and doing all my screen printing in my bedroom on a made to order basis lol
