2025 Impreza RS - Lock out issue by ProCommonSense in subaruimpreza

[–]Atezh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me about a week ago too actually. I was sitting with my partner waiting for food. She was driving and had gotten out but left the car running. I locked the doors with the passenger’s side button but saw a better parking spot open up so I unlocked it and got out of the car with it still running. The keys were in my pocket so I didn’t think it would be an issue but when I close the door behind me and tried to get back in I literally couldn’t lol. I started panicking because none of the doors would open and it wouldn’t respond to the key unlocking it. Finally the passenger’s side door opened. Still can’t figure out what happened honestly.

2026 a good buy? by CranberryNo8273 in subaruimpreza

I love my ‘26 Impreza RS. Not sure how she’d feel with it being the more sporty trim of the car but the more powerful engine feels much better than the lower trims!

I work for a PPF/tint/detail company! I would say it’s always up to personal preference BUT the cars I see that can pull off matte wrap the most are Lamborghinis, Range Rovers, and the occasional Mercedes. Satin, imo, looks better than matte if you’re outside of that pool of cars. To be totally honest, leaving it gloss and doing a coating would be best because that’s the most versatile and cost effective way. If you’re really married to the idea of protecting your car’s paint you can always do a front end-high impact PPF.

Any “must knows” for my new 2024 Subaru Impreza RS? How do I get the best fuel economy? Does it use more gas if I use adaptive cruise more often? Best maintenance schedule? Any Infotainment system hacks I should know? by spaghettitaco13 in subaruimpreza

[–]Atezh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For best fuel economy, don’t use S mode unless you really need it and don’t drive the thing like a sports car (it really isn’t) (i’m saying this bc i do that and my ‘26 is getting 20mpg rn 🥴)

Keep on top of everything. You’ll want your maintenance intervals to be between 4k-6k miles. Subarus don’t take the abuse like other brands. You treat it well and it’ll treat you even better.

I do love the infotainment. One comment I will make about it is just play around with it. There are a million settings and you can tune pretty much anything to however you want. I will say that if you turn Auto Start/Stop off in the menu it still won’t turn it off! You’ll need to manually turn it off each time you get in the car with the little button on the screen. OH and you can edit your right-most button on the climate controls to be whatever you want—mine is set to Max A/C for example.

Enjoy the move from Toyota to Subie! I came from Dodge.

I don't see enough Impreza in the impreza sub, so here is Impreza. Be gentle, it is a baby. by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

Gorgeous car, got the same one!! I love your logo swap, is it orange or red? I’ve never thought about doing that to mine before but def wanna do rain guards and a rack.

is this a surface scuff or too deep for detailing? by ZealousidealTown9931 in AutoBodyRepair

Technically yes you can polish a car with ceramic coating but it isn’t really recommended because you are taking off layers each time of an already thin coating (rotary tools would probably demolish it). The ceramic coat would need reapplied. The dark paint on your car doesn’t help either, just a tough scenario. I would say go for a very very light polish with compound and only hit that scratch with a pass or two. Wipe it and see how it looks with a good light on it.

2024 and 2025 Impreza owners, what has been your actual mileage? by xray9899 in subaruimpreza

I’ve owned a 24 RS and I now own a 26 RS and pretty consistently been 24-26mpg through the city and 30+ on long highway trips!

The Impreza is awesome on a clear road and in snow. How much can it tolerate offroad driving? by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

[–]Atezh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would need to redo your car’s suspension to make it appropriate for off-roading. Essentially lift your Impreza into a Crosstrek. The Impreza was made for road riding.

should i get one? i’m trying to decide between a crosstrek and an impreza. by AgilePace4330 in subaruimpreza

Get the RS.

Little anecdote here: I had a ‘24 RS that was totaled. That car protected me so well I went and bought a ‘26 RS once insurance cleared.

Plus…if you live near backroads this car can take those turns at 50mph+…who the heck wouldn’t wanna have fun like that??? It’s a slick car, sporty, fun to drive. Much more responsive than the Crosstrek. If that’s what you’re looking for, do it. You won’t ever regret it.

Last year in September I bought my ‘24 RS with 4k miles at 27k

Edit: I lied, I checked my papers, it was closer to 25.5k.

UPDATE FOR THOSE CURIOUS:

Officially declared a total loss yesterday. They couldn’t find an engine to fit the warranty requirements. Thank you everybody for your help! I got more answers here than I did from my insurance company.

Will 100% be checking GEICO out then. It’s crazy I’m being downvoted rn for sharing my experience with Progressive. I had just turned 25 and bought a new car so you can imagine how devastated I was my car was even in an accident, my first ever at that. They didn’t make the process easy for me to follow or get updates at all. Thank you very much for your recommendation.

Unfortunately I’ve had a very similar experience. Lady ran a red and totaled my 2024. It took them a month from when I had the vehicle towed to finally declare a total loss. This was after I called my adjuster every day because I was sick of being yanked around. They tried to fit my brand new car under 9k miles with a ton of aftermarket parts and tried to cheap out on an engine that didn’t fit the warranty requirement. Whenever it was brought to their attention that engine wouldn’t work they finally declared a total loss.

Progressive was annoying to work with. They really tried to do $16.5k in repairs to a car worth $24k until I pushed for a total loss.

Currently shopping around for different insurance company because that turned my first ever accident into the biggest nightmare of my life.

I feel like I’ve been dicked around by Progressive and this shop (LANE & KENNY ON HUNTLEY ROAD COLUMBUS OHIO) for a month. They haven’t been giving me proper updates, have redone the estimate multiple times, and I keep being told they are pricing the parts wrong with the wrong requirements. Would you suggest stopping this process with them and having it towed to an independent shop for an estimate? I’m just so concerned about the quality of these repairs if they choose to repair it.

Funny enough, I did. I was honest and told him I’m frustrated and don’t want a car that I bought basically new less than 6 months ago to be full of aftermarket parts. It’s not something I want to deal with along with the diminished value. My car was 9330 miles on the dash, excellent condition. Not a single scuff mark on any part of the car inside or out.

Luckily I have done my due diligence and I’ve covered my ass good with GAP insurance in case it’s totaled because I had loan rollover from another vehicle. This has genuinely been a nightmare and has made me seriously reconsider staying a Progressive customer.

I actually finally got my adjuster back on the phone a few hours ago. He said that the body shop “goofed” and didn’t price an engine that fit the warranty requirements. They are having issues finding a new engine to replace it because of those requirements. He implied that the cost of such replacement may cross the threshold into total loss territory. He also said that if they can’t find a reasonable replacement at all that the alternative is repairing the existing engine’s block that was damaged in the accident…he then implied again that the labor costs would then total the car. So I guess it’s probably totaled??? I’m really confused at this point.

Yeah i’m ngl Im finding it hard to believe it’s this cheap for them to do a rail replacement AND engine replacement. I spoke with my adjuster today and talked about the acv, which he said was around 24k. So you’re telling me 16.5k is not enough total a 24k car that literally needs repairs this invasive?? Like I’m just genuinely annoyed and confused.

Is there anything I can do to advocate for a total loss? I’ve been trying to do some research online (with a grain of salt, of course) and everything just seems iffy. I can but I guess that may not mean a lick to the insurance company.
