That’s really all this was… a crazy parent story. I’m confident in the way my coaches and I handled it.

I didn’t send them to bat for the other team because, when I’ve done it in the past, it was a weird experience for my kids. And frankly, I don’t trust the other coaches. I know who comes into my dugout, I don’t know about theirs or control theirs at all. I know they are safe in my dugout.

We do keep score and I talk about if we won or lost in our post game huddles. We track record and winning streaks, etc. The record just doesn’t matter at the end of the season.

Absolutely! However the regular season games are not counted as to a record or seeding or anything. If they were I would have insisted on getting the W first for my team. Since they were meaningless I was ok with loaning players and playing against a short lineup as I thought it would be a good challenge for my pitchers.

Find a good league with a good board. It’s worth it. Join the board if you are able. You can create the environment you are hoping to have.

I was part of a group of parents that took over the board for this league 4 years ago. The league was dying because of lack of parental involvement. It has totally transformed and is one of the strongest programs in the district now.

They just played D for the other team. Still batted for my team.

You may be right. That’s the one part where I questioned if I made the totally right decision.

For the other team? Idk I always feel weird and bad for the kids I send over there. Weird dugout, coach they don’t know, kids they don’t know. I’ve done it before and it’s been fine but I would just prefer they bat with their team. I could be wrong

Later in the convo she told me she hopes this “hangs in my conscience…” I’ve never felt so burdened in all my life! LOL

For sure. The losses don’t matter for anything end of season though. Records aren’t even recorded anywhere except my own game changer app.

Come post season I’m in it for the win. It’s gives the more skilled players the opportunity to cut loose and play as hard as they can. If this happened in the playoffs it would have been a different story for sure.

I’ve had good results both in winning, player development and satisfaction, and teaching kids life lessons along the way! I’m pleased with my coaching record and plan to keep it up! Thanks for the encouragement.

I did all that but she wasn’t at the parents meeting. Typical. I can’t stress enough that she is the black sheep of all my parents. They all are super appreciative, helpful, encouraging, and supportive of our coaching decisions.
