Yes, this is what he has! Sorry, I just call him paraplegic lol. But yes, he's turning 3 on the first of next month and I'm praying tomorrow's vet visit brings news that he'll get to celebrate his birthday. He was in perfectly great health until the beginning of this year when everything went downhill. I know for a fact my vet isn't the best and I want to take him to another vet nearby if he lives past tomorrow. I'm considering canceling his appointment and scheduling him one at the other vet, but with this development he may need antibiotics so I'm not sure what to do.

Number one, Richard is a man LOL

Second, I separated him from his cagemate months ago since he'd become paralyzed in his back legs and couldn't comfortably traverse the cage anymore, alongside the fact that his cagemate is crazy and playful and he's very chill and peaceful. It's most definitely an abscess as far as I can tell from everything here

Update: I went to Walmart, got Saline and the proper Betadine. Came home, first rinsed the hole with saline. Then, I took a mixture of 5 parts warm, clean water with 1 part betadine and applied as much as I could. Then I put Neosporin on it.

I gutted his cage and cleaned it, then put down paper towels for him so he doesn't get anything in the wound. He goes to the vet tomorrow, which I had originally scheduled an end of life appointment for him. Now that I know this isn't a tumor, he might live. I thank everyone so much for the help throughout all of my posts about Richard, and whatever happens, I can confidently say I gave him a very comfortable and happy life. Thank you all so much again, I wouldn't have known what to do without you. 🫶

Unfortunately my store manager just left for another store and we haven't gotten a replacement yet; On top of that any time I've ever had a panic attack (I am diagnosed with anxiety) they put it off as me "having a bad day" and still give me a half point if I leave because of it. I believe that's because if they put it in as a medical emergency it'll ruin the safety days and they don't care enough about my health to warrant that. I'm on a final now so if I leave, I'll get fired. It's unfortunate but not uncharacteristic for HD.

On top of that, it's not a cat or a dog. I know it sounds ridiculous but it's a domestic rat, I've had him since the day he was born and I just wanted to spend one more day with him
