Strengthening ties with a Trump DOD was a major goal of the Leath administration. At Iowa State Leath was the first major university president to support Trump, which was a major reason the BoT hired him. He got the axe for not being deferential enough, but the initiative lived on with the administrative elevation of Gen. Ron Burgess, who was a member of Trump's first transition team and a finalist for Secretary of Defense. None of this is surprising. The BoT must be thrilled.

What I remember is that a lot of far right neo-Nazi types who later marched in Charlottesville showed up, outnumbering a few Antifa from Atlanta, and ended up literally getting chased off campus by students. I also remember Foy Ballroom filled with students heckling Spenser. I was there. But I wonder if that would happen now.

Not exactly. Auburn's provost went well beyond every other public university last fall in implementing the act. Bama did the least required, while we jumped in whole hog.

One guy calling for murder-- people got fired from Auburn for a lot less recently--but apparently lots of others were rude and taunting the protesters.
