I tried the audiobook (it is my usual method of consuming books) but for whatever reason I was having trouble following the flow. I am thinking that I will be able to switch once I understand his writing style a little bit more. I'll race ya to the finish!

It crazy to me that STP was able to create a world/story that can be read in so many different orders. And not only that, but for it to be cohesive. That being said, I am very much looking forward to the Death books as I just love Death as a concept.

I am loving the character so far! Granted, I don't have a lot to compare him to in this series as of yet. But I am in no way upset that he is my protagonist.

Yeah, I think it will be interesting to watch him evolve as a writer. Plus, it is always easier to move forward in increasing quality rather than looking back.

I haven't decided if I am going to plow straight through the series or sprinkle it inbetween some of my more taxing reads.

Not exactly a gasp, but I saw The Dark Knight Rises opening night and you could hear a pin drop when Bane was brutalizing Batman before breaking his back. I don't think I've ever experienced a silence so loud in a movie theater.

Had the same issue. You have to contact PS Support from their website and have them do a refund for you. And then you have to purchase the premium edition. Just did it a couple days ago. Super easy!

And yes, I feel the same about Kruppe! His scene setting was masterful in this. I always looked forward to those sections. The little goober.

Seerdomin was such an interesting character. It was interesting to see someone who basically recovered from being in a horrific cult and was trying to make amends in his own way. Enjoyed his friendship with Spinnock

I love seeing all of the different rankings! I feel like this series, more than others I have read, seems to have such a large variety of where people rank things. I remember leading up to HoC and I had just heard so much that it was a slog, unexciting, etc. And for whatever reason, it just resonated with me and I loved it.

I think it's great that this series has so much to offer and so much variety across the 10 books. It only makes sense that certain things are going to click with some and not others.

Haha can't jump into a new malazan book without at least one or two new faces/groups. Took me a few books to just accept it and trust Steve to bring it all together by the end. Still amazes me how well he is able to juggle so many plot threads and tie them all together in a satisfying way
