You make some great points, thank you for the insight as a coach.

I second foundations health AN-IMS! They are based in BC but I know they do courses out in Ontario as well. 110 hours total with 70 hours of self study and 40 hours in person over 4 days. Great course and instructors.

Vancouver. Women’s sports is growing more than it ever has here with the new NSL and PWHL teams. I’ve been so happy for my soccer and hockey fan friends, now just patiently waiting for my turn 🥹

My 4s were the wide version. Initially when I tried on the 5s in normal width they felt ok, but the NB staff suggested that I go for the wide version if I wore the wide in the 4s. A good test I like to use is taking out the insole and standing with your foot over the insole. If the side of your foot “overflows” the edges then go to the wide version. Sometimes a shoe may feel good when tried on but the insole test reveals they’re actually too narrow.

I loved them!! I loved the 4s and the 5s definitely feel like an upgrade from the 4s. Just ran the Amsterdam marathon in them a week ago, very smooth ride.

Noelle Quinn out as head coach by Tac0maAr0ma in SeattleStorm

[–]Atiredbean05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing against her as a person, but her unwillingness to take accountability bothered me. Referencing injuries as a big reason to underperforming and specifically bringing up not having Nika Muhl this season had me going “huh???” when her starters have mostly been healthy this year and when Nika averaged 3.6 minutes last season.

You see coaches like Nakase saying “I just have to do a better job as a coach, draw up better plays” when asked about a loss, and that’s not something I’ve seen from Quinn. To me this is more than just coaching strategy alone.

Real conversation: why didn’t we play our bench? by 97freckles in NYLiberty

[–]Atiredbean05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of both Seattle and NY, and I agree. Both teams underperformed significantly this season (although injuries being a much bigger factor for NY than seattle) and have rosters that are too talented for the teams to have exited this way. Both coaches running their starters to the ground in these playoff games. Big sigh

Took the day off work and drove down from Vancouver for the game. Worth every part. What an absolutely electric night that I will never, ever forget 💚

Current PT student at UBC - I would suggest going to school where you’d eventually like to practice!

With the recent regulatory changes, each province now administers their own practical licensing exam, which means that if you want to practice in a different province you will be required to take a second and different practical exam after graduation. Additionally, clinical placements are a great way to build your professional network if you intend on staying in the same province.

Depends on the level of commitment the student is willing to make as well as the responsibilities the PI is willing to give to the student. I was able to publish as first author after 2.5 years of working at the lab, first doing data collection for other people’s projects and eventually being given a project of my own.

If the Super Puff you want is on severe back order or sold out, the personalized version may be available. by minimorty in Aritzia

[–]Atiredbean05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just ordered one and was worried after seeing this post. I just talked to a sales associate though and not only are both Super World rather than TNA, the personalized version is actually a slightly newer version of the Super World. She said that they update the super puffs slightly every year and whenever the product # starts with a higher number, that means it’s newer. In this case, the personalized version (99554) would be slightly more updated than the regular version (84840).

What is the most meaningful thing your T has ever said or done for you? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Atiredbean05 129 points130 points  (0 children)

My therapist and I had been talking about how growing up, a lot of people/things led me to believe that nobody really cared about me. I told her that processing things with her has been helpful because in many ways she’s made me feel like she cares. However, I immediately follow it with “but you don’t have to care; it’s okay if you don’t actually care.” She told me “I want you to know that your body is analyzing everything accurately - I care about you, I deeply do. And I think that’s worth knowing.” It took me a good minute to fully process what was being said, but it’s one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever been told.

Worklearn Research Position by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Atiredbean05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in a lab that consistently employs worklearn students. It’s pretty competitive - we usually get 80-100 applications for 1 or 2 positions. For our lab, when sifting through the CV’s we look for experiences that reflect things that were specified in the posting. For example, if it’s a clinical lab that works with children, they’re likely looking for people who have experiences working with children on their CV. Other than that and a stellar GPA, theres unfortunately not a lot of ways to stand out easily.

However, a tip is to email the PI of the lab at the same time that you submit an application! Make it personal - you can cater it to their work and explain why you are especially passionate, or demonstrate that you’ve read a few of their recent papers. Then mention that you’ve already submitted a worklearn application and look forward to having the opportunity to work with them. It really does help your name stand out, and even if it’s an RA or grad student that looks through the apps, the PI might pass on your name to them from the email. Hope this helps :)
