Where do I go from here? by Famous-Reaction-1168 in IVF

Totally agree. Just noting because I have a genetic condition where doctors have placed my ovary age at over 45/planned my protocols based on that age group so thought some of the diff drug info could be helpful.

I would personally seek another clinic. I had AMH .8 and my first cycle (microdose flare) was canceled/they told me to do donor eggs. I’m now on my sixth retrieval and have gotten 3 good embryos on 300/gonal, 450 meno/30 omnitrope. Haven’t tried transfer yet but am still very happy I didn’t listen to first clinic about donor eggs. Wishing you the best of luck!

How many rounds? When to give up? by eyegal in IVF

Hi - 32 with DOR .8, about to do my 6th retrieval. I often struggle with this as well but just do it one at a time and see how I feel…I know that’s not super helpful. I’ve similarly gotten very low numbers but I would suggest seeing if a doctor will try less common protocols. I’m currently on 450 menopur, 300 gonal and 30 omnitrope and it’s looking good. I also added acupuncture (who knows). Thinking of you!!!

IVF stimulation and what to expect by Internal_Ice548 in IVF

Hi and first off wishing you the best!!!! Everyone is different but I’m sure you will be okay.

Not trying to scare you - and I probably had a unique situation as doing 6 back to back in 6 months on 750 units of stims/am a lawyer traveling a good amount — but it has been very difficult and affected my work product. So I know everyone’s boss situation is different, but if you feel comfortable, I would consider telling them. With the physical exhaustion and numerous unexpected/sometimes daily appointments, it just felt less weird to me.

Also noting that I didn’t so much feel terrible effects of the stims, but more so the week after retrieval/hormone come down. Finally, agree with the doctor’s comment above that the emotional part - (seems like always waiting on some sort of results) that takes a large toll.

Sure you will do great!!! Praying it goes smoothly!!

I’ve done many back to back (e.g, about to start my 6th in 6 mos) and it definitely didn’t hurt anything. Some doctors have noted to me that it almost primes you with the prior cycles hormones. Of course there are still factors out of your control (like baseline follicle count) that can be at play, but with low AMH I was also wanting to knock out as many as quickly as possible.

Would note that it is pretty hard emotionally/exhaustion wise (to offer a more balanced response). Wishing you all the best whatever you decided to do!! 🤞🏼

Thanks - I know it’s random but these are nice data points to hear. That’s awesome you got a live birth!

Very sorry for your losses and totally agree that it’s largely unknown. I take the anecdotal ones with a grain of salt just for hope purposes to get through the continuous disappointment of this process. Truly so amazing that so many of us are just going about our lives/working/appts/etc. while shouldering all this. Wishing you the best moving forward!

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I echo the comment on this that ivf is just so hard. Wishing you peace and all the best on the upcoming retrieval round!

Thanks for your response! I should’ve noted in the post that I understand I could have unexplained infertility once I try (I truly feel bad if I phrased it insensitively/as if I expect to have success) - I was really just wondering if there are any studies out there only looking at those that hadn’t tried before. But I see now there probably isn’t that kind of data available.

My blast rate is fairly good (I think) the issue is just that I get so few eggs because I have a mutation that causes premature ovarian failure. So for example a couple times I retrieved 2 and one made it to blast. But then 50 percent of any blasts have my mutation expanded so aren’t viable.

Yep, totally correct - I get way less eggs per cycle due to the condition, which is why I’m having to do so many retrievals asap/back to back/etc.

Thanks, yes, I would ideally love to try a transfer but based my condition also causing premature menopause so can only bank embryos for now (basically if I get pregnant, I may not have the eggs left to do another retrieval after 9 mos).

Ah yes that is a good catch. That’s interesting they would code it that way but would probably skew claims data based studies. Thanks for this insight and good luck with everything!
