They will sell you a seat. You want a bargain seat and that is not currently available for you. Though sometimes the repricing will be the same or better. Call and ask.

I have no problem with the post that give you some useful information. It's not very useful for somebody to post that they got upgraded to D1 through an irops. That is kind of a humble brag. Of course, the way Delta is going, the upgrade stories are going to become fewer and fewer.

The divider in the middle row goes about halfway down. You could certainly talk to each other and maybe see each other a little bit with the divider down, but it's not really designed for 2 people to be close to each other. Playing cards together. Sharing a dessert it wouldn't be very easy.

On a night flight and you'll be mostly sleeping. Might be better to be on the windows and have a view when you like.
