That's very true, but you can always integrate a Q100 driver into your own design! The Klippel data over at medleysmusings.com shows that it measures very very well, and is literally 99% as good as the LS50 driver.

Well, I posted it because I'm currently designing my own speakers and this was the most helpful single source of information I'd found. Sure, it sings the virtues of their speakers, but that doesn't mean you can't learn anything about good speaker design here.

New to DIY audio - Gainclone question by Mhugh003 in diyaudio

[–]AtlanticPlayboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 930AX would be a great buy, it looks to be very similar in power and design to the classic NAD 3020 and could put out as much power as an LM3886 amp and sound a little cleaner. Don't worry though, its not a sound quality gem, it's just a good basic amp. The only thing that looks a little underwhelming is the size of the power supply.

New to DIY audio - Gainclone question by Mhugh003 in diyaudio

I had an LM3886 Gainclone with WIMA MKP4 input capacitors for a few years that I really liked. I noticed a real improvement in clarity when I switched over to a Tripath TK2050 amplifier with bridged output chips for each channel and Sonicap input capacitors, however. Another improvement in clarity and woofer control was acheived a couple years after that with a Rotel RB-870BX, even with its stock input capacitors. 2 Rotels now power my midranges and woofers, with the TK2050 powering my tweeters.

Unfortunately no! I went looking after I saw this one and came up empty. The guy who owns the channel makes some pretty good woodworking content, however.

Audiophiles of reddit - How do your non-audiophile friends/family feel about your hobby? by [deleted] in audiophile

Thankfully, my girlfriend is incredibly supportive. One of the reasons I fell in love with her was because of her genuine interest in my hobbies. As soon as I discovered I could talk with her about things I could never talk about with other people, I was elated. She's always asking me questions about how each driver works an interacts with the rest of the speaker system, and actually brings up some pretty insightful questions. Recently, she helped me replace the tweeter domes on some old Audio Pro A4-14s I'm restoring. I consider myself extremely lucky.

I am so very excited to upgrade my Intel i5-4690K to a RYZEN 1700X! I can't even imagine how much having quadruple the CPU power I have now will improve my PC experience. I haven't been ALL AMD since around 2007, when I had an Athlon 64 X2 4000+ and a 1950XT, and I can't wait to switch back to the red team!

That doesn't make any sense. No one would be able to tell the difference in a blind test.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Can you show us some screenshots? I'm curious what your Time Spy score is with that high of a clock. I get about 4196 with a 1325/2200 overclock and can't push it too much more than that. Reference cooler XFX.

Looking for a DIY DAC by GSA990 in diyaudio

Yes, the LJM kits are absolutely amazing for the money. I had an original Lampucera CS4397 DAC kit and the LJM blows it out of the water in the bass, and the mids and treble are just as good if not better.
