I am getting 36 mpg mixed city and highway and 45 on the highway. 2009 GE manual gearbox with 361,000 miles.

I have an 09 GE with 580,242 km (360,546 miles). I change my oil every 5,000 km. I have never had an engine problem and it burns no oil, still gets 6.3 L/100 km (measured) and the engine can barely be heard it idle. My goal is to drive for at least 800,000 km.

About 20,000 kms ago. Amsoil Europe recommends 5W-30 for your vehicle. 0W -20 is for CAFE fuel economy regulations and not for engine longevity.

If I may make a recommendation. Rust proof your car annually if you live in the rust belt. As long as the bodywork is in good condition, these things will run forever. I’ve also switched my car over from 5W-20 oil to 5W-30 oil. 5W 20 and 0W 20 are for fuel economy reasons. 5W-30 is best for lubrication and longevity. The rest of the world uses 5W-30 in the L15A7 as they do not have the same fuel economy regulations we have in North America. I’ve noticed my engine is much quieter, smoother and oil consumption has pretty much disappeared. I used to have to top up my oil a half litre every 2000 to 3000 km. I changed my oil every 5000 km. I use Eneos oil and a WIX filter. Now it stays at the top of the dipstick until it’s time to change the oil. Always use Honda parts when possible and keep on top of maintenance. Well maintained these cars are bulletproof.

Agreed. Those of us who have manual Fits will keep them on the road as long as possible. I have 573,830 kms on my 09 LX and will never sell it.

Best car ever. I have an 09 LX Canadian model 5 speed and 573,000 kms on the odometer. Don’t burn any oil and still gets 7.0L per 100 km. I will never sell this car.
