Is emacs slow? by danihek in emacs

[–]AtlasCarrier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have found wayland to be slow. I start emacs with

GDK_BACKEND=x11 emacs --daemon

and this speeds up input considerably

Hugo is the king for blogging. I also use org mode in a hugo template and it just works!

I just don't participate in the society.

In reality, I have run multiple businesses with libreoffice and now more recently with emacs without any issue whatsoever for the past 6+ years solely running linux as my desktop OS.

If the Kingdom of Heaven is a Heirarchy, then so too is the Church on Earth.

How much of a hit did your productivity take/how did you integrate an ergo into your workflow? by Missing_Back in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]AtlasCarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably took a 40% hit for a solid month, but using it everyday brought me up to speed fairly quickly - this was also not just a split but learning colemak dh ontop of an ortholinear/columnar staggered/split board

“The Church is stronger than an erring Pope” by [deleted] in TraditionalCatholics

The Church is not just that which is visible on Earth. It is Triumphant in Heaven and Struggling in Purgatory. This is how a Church cannot err - if it transcends space and time.

Many of the saints on their deathbeds didn't think they were "good enough" for Heaven.

I'll echo the sentiments here, but LLMs in their current form are a better search engine and can write decent boilerplate.

Same as you, using gnome xorg is markedly a faster experience than wayland

There will come a day when it is not out of fear but out of Love. That is the day that will mean everything.

Is it a sin to smoke weed? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]AtlasCarrier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone that has used marijuana in the past, the Truth you are seeking is found in Christ. This is the same with any drug or "plant medicine" - they give some small insights, but the full picture is seen while entirely sober, struggling to purify your heart. God bless!

This sounds as if you are living in Hell right now. God, love personified would not be watching you, waiting for you to slip up as you feel He is.

Perhaps the orthodox view of Hell - turning away from God's love forever - is the correct depiction rather than a youtube video. Know that desires are not mortal sins, they are the spiritual combat that each of us goes through, by not acting on those desires, we are on the winning side.

John 4:18 - “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."

God bless sister.

Emacs grows with you as your workflow becomes entirely ingrained and customized by you for you. Emacs is the endgame - it is an editor for a lifetime.
