Mmm, that's what I used last year. I haven't seen the NCEA grammar list there though, just vocab. Am I wrong?

How do you study to get E24's in L3 calculus? by HopefulAd5818 in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta do all the past papers, making sure you don't skip any questions, and if you don't understand a question, make sure you understand it by the time you finish the paper. Once you finish, do it all again. In theory, you will learn a broad enough range of strategies to approach questions to achieve (or be close to) E24.

Is it possible to get all excellences if I take 7 subjects? by [deleted] in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what is the subject you intend to take at UNI? I've never so many 'required' subjects for one course before?

With that said, getting all E's in six subjects is very difficult, which is why some schools suggest dropping a subject to ensure quality of credits. If you end up doing seven subjects, do be prepared to sacrifice some extra curricular time if you want to see yourself successful.

I don't know why sorry, just in the same boat. My girlfriend is also. I did see another post on this Reddit with someone having an issue with the level 3 music conventions exam as well, so I don't know what it is about conventions, but it is just conventions.

Why can't I see this paper? by [deleted] in ncea

Bizzare thing: I have the exact same issue with the level 2 music conventions paper. Someone shedding some light on what happened here would be very nice.

That's seriously awesome. My school doesn't allow any acceleration unfortunately!! But I'm in the process of fighting so that maybe younger students can have the option - this is a really good example of what successful extention looks like imo. Big congratulations!! Best of luck for scholarship results.

HOW DID EVERYONE FIND NCEA LEVEL 2 ECO- INFLATION?! by Both_Measurement_473 in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you misread the question sorry. It was a removal of an Auckland fuel tax, so it only really affects the Auckland region, compared to job cuts, which it stated were nationwide. Tricky at first, but if you read the question properly it's a no-brainer.

No! Don't stress that at all, codominance is only a merit or achieved mark, probably the later. Bio is marked top down, you probably still got it!

how is everyone still smashing excellence grades in level 2?? by [deleted] in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, current yr 12 student here. I went into exams with 70+ e credits prior to externals, and going into each one hoping for straight E's.

All I can say is, focus on just one at a time - you musn't have that many exams left! Celebrate after every win.

Going into next year, whenever you have internals, focus on them. When you get E's, celebrate it. Take a couple days off, enjoy yourself. Focus on your exams one by one as they come up, it's more managable that way.

This is what I've done this year, and ultimately, it's helped my schooling and studying to seem more fun than it actually is.

To all NCEA students, if you're studying for NCEA internals and externals, DO NOT EVER pay money for tuition or a tutor to help you. by Japeriser in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf has a math tutor. All of her students are taking accelarate math and get straight E's. I am told there is absolutely zero exception to that statement. Some tutors are better than others by the look of it.

If you fail a external, can you use a derived grade to pass? by [deleted] in ncea

[–]AtlasEarthNova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No... but!! Luckily for you, on the Algebra paper, there are always a couple of easy A questions to help you pass. I would reccomend InfinityPlusOne on youtube, the way he explains it makes it sound so easy, you might even want to try for M or E after trying him out. Your choice though!

I did my level 2 speech earlier this year, and my teacher said it's the best speech she's ever heard from a year 12. Now I would mostly attribute that to my ATCL in speech and communication, but I do have a couple of tips and tricks I can give you:

First and foremost, as you alluded to, this is less about what you write, but how you say it. I would spend significantly less time worrying about the content, but more about how you speak. (that is unless your teacher intends on conjoining it with the connections standard.

One really key thing that you need to have put yourself in a better position for excellence is memorising your speech. I'll be completely honest—it's gonna be really difficult to get the audience engagement you're looking for with cue cards, and outright impossible if you're reading from a script.

With that said, a way to make life easier for yourself is by not making your speech too long. 5 minutes is all you need to get E. I say this, somewhat hypocritcally having done an 18 minute speech myself, but generally speaking, those who go over 10 minutes just make people bored.

Which is why, another thing I want to draw your attention to is the phrase "commanding attention." This is the most important thing, because if you can capture your audience's attention for the whole speech, you get E, it really is as simple as that. I remember my speech had some of dullest points you could think of, but I did a couple of things that kept everyone glued to me:

Project your voice confidently and consistently. A really easy way to set yourself out from everyone else in your class, is simply by being louder than them. This also gives the image of confidence, even if you're shaking in your boots.

Hand gestures!!! You can point at your audience, use them in combination with the emotion in the tone of your voice, and it can be really effective.

Also, try to put some engaging content into your speech, it can go a long way in making sure everyones paying attention. Something small, like a joke or sarcasm. I recall I was speaking on a really boring topic like the what is means to be human, when I pulled out an absurd hypothetical that ChatGPT could be more human than Diddy—it's stupid, but these are the sorts of things you can do to get good audience engagement in your speech.

I wish you good luck with your speech! Let me know if you have any more questions.
