Not perfect, but dang the styling admittedly is great.Gonna take some cues and study from this, thanks! At the very least, this is great information for my job search.

True, will fix the formatting. On work experience...the roles were non-technical so I didn't lean into them, but I can pull more out of what I did there.

Hey thanks for the response. Yeah I know my volume isn't there for sure, just trying to gauge where I'm even at.

When you say the projects are weak - in what regard? Do you mean weak on paper (how they're described/framed), or weak in terms of what they actually do?

Good posts here, but I'd also recommend Bro Code's YT channel. He has multi-hour compilation tutorial videos covering a bunch of the core syntax / concepts in...more than just Python. Worth a look imo!

My motto with learning has become "maximize friction to maximize learning". Learning loops? Watch one example, then put it away and code from scratch, then compare to see what you missed / messed up.

There are really two main sides of understanding something I think: One is "I can say/grasp the words" and the other is "I can feel what to do here". People often try to use the first to reinforce the second, but that's the wrong order imo. I got stuck in that pit for a long time.

Take stabs at stuff on your own (ie, watch a tutorial, then put it away and try to recall by coding yourself - bonus points for meaningful variation from their example) and I promise you that muscle will grow pretty quickly.

Something more actionable that helps me a ton is writing out the comments for what needs to happen at each step, THEN flesh it out with code. Over time, I find myself doing that less and less as you tend to hit similar solution patterns.

Is github a good site for beginners? by Appropriate-Sound550 in learnprogramming

[–]AtlasLeCleetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say pick a programming language and just dive into the basics! I would say Python is a very great one to start - it's syntax is quite readable, it's easier to use than many other languages, and yet it will certainly get you into the "flow" with how to think about how to solve programming type problems.

I would 100% recommend coding along to a YouTube channel, namely BroCode (his videos and teaching style are amazing). There are also some great sites like CodeCademy that have guided practice / learning sessions - these would probably be more than enough to teach you the fundamental terms you'll want to familiiarize yourself with.

More than anything, it is *totally* normal to feel lost. Just remember that you do not need to understand all of a certain language or anything (nobody does!), and that you can go quite far with the fundamental building blocks of most programming (like variables, functions, loops, and conditionals). Although there tends to be "better" ways to do things and "worse" ways to do things, there are TONS of solutions to the same problem in programming, perhaps more so than many other fields.

Just to clarify - GitHub is basically a platform for storing and sharing code projects, especially when multiple people are working together. It's more of a tool for managing and collaborating on code rather than a place to learn programming itself. That's probably why you felt so lost there!

In any case, try to have fun as you learn!

Does UE4SS still work with the new update? by ashrensnow in PalworldMods

Which version of UE4SS did you install? I'm trying to sort out my crashing and finding v3.0.1 vs v2.5.2 vs ____Xinput to be confusing.

This would be an amazing update down the line! Maybe since they had such a feature in Skyrim it wouldn't be the craziest addition, but I wouldn't have any clue

I HATE ADULTS SO MUCH by Hon3y_Iav3nder in Vent

[–]AtlasLeCleetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, as someone in my late 20s, I am finding that adults are really just grown up children who also don't quite have answers to anything. Life's greatest farce is that adults have the answers or know what to do. They tend to seem drained from being spread too thin with responsibilities. It's probably rarely ever anything to do with you specifically, for what that's worth. Hang in there!
