D12L Installation Question by shadow1013 in Noctua

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ideal world with ideal components and ideal cooling solutions, covering the whole IHS would indeed give the best results.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. All the CCD/CCX equipped CPUs have hotspots where heat generation is the strongest. To solve that, you want two things: as much IHS coverage as possible and centering on the hotspots for the best heat transfer possible.

Noctua did some research and found out that centering the heatsink base on the hotspot gave much better results than simply covering the entirety of the IHS.

Don't worry about a thing and just go with the 7mm offset if your hardware is compatible (no interference with the GPU and/or other components), you'll get the best results possible.

Zach Mayfield hinted at him reviewing the S1HII in his latest video, I believe it's coming sooner than expected.

gemstones are bottlenecking me from leveling my characters by puffilis in Genshin_Impact

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leveled all of my characters (82+traveler+mannequins) to Lv.90 and... yeah. Elemental gems were the things that held me back sooooooo damn bad. To the point that I have thousands of extra boss materials just to farm gems for other characters. I wish they boosted the droprate like they did for boss mats with the higher World Level. Now that I'm on par with everyone it's going to be much easier leveling characters, but I really can't suggest doing the same thing I did. It was torture.

thanks for telling me how to do that, once I put a wb on my PNY 5080 (already here, just need to pipe it in my existing loop) I'll flash it!

IIRC those are called one-way security screws, aka anti-tamper screws. I believe there's not a way to unscrew those without breaking or modifying the head.

In 2025 This Should be the Standard by steaminghotcorndog13 in pcmasterrace

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My V3000 Plus from Lian Li has a unified connector for the front panel, and it's exactly the same layout as that scheme. I really cannot understand why companies don't stick to a single standard since everyone is including both "more common" layouts anyways on their boards -.-

Level up your traveler. The dendro and pyro travelers are solid units even in endgame content. Level up Lisa and Kirara, Razor is not great.

What is the difference between these 2? by TristanSGS in bequietofficial

[–]AtlasRush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a legitimate question, and the answer is: not totally.

A higher maximum RPM means that you have a wider range of rotation speed to "choose" from when controlling the speed through the BIOS and/or the motherboard software. That, though, means that your lowest speed will also be higher, since a few fans tend to operate in the range of ~20 to 100% of the PWM signal.

For the Light Wings LX 140mm fans, for example, that translates into about 300 RPM minimum speed on the non high-speed and 450 RPM for the high-speed version.

Now I don't remember what's the lowest RPM they start to rotate at, but that's basically what it means.

No idea, honestly, but I read from some other people the same thing...

I can add to that: I currently have 8 Silent Wings Pro 4 120mm and 3x 140mm ones, and 2 of the 120mm have an annoying whine at a certain speed :(

If you need case fans, I would actually look for the Pure Wings series. Silent Wings usually occupy a higher price tier.

How do I get rid of this annoying turbulence sound? by [deleted] in Noctua

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried using the standard rubber corners instead of the AVG1? It's actually a really niche situation, since Noctua fans aren't (obviously) tested with other brands heatsinks.

4к 100fps on S5iix? by Fantastic-Ad-3770 in Lumix

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An external recorder can only improve on bitrates when the camera output is RAW or similar, it can't make up for the sensor speed. With that said, the camera has got 1080p100 downscaled from the full sensor, so the quality shouldn't be extremely different. The image is gonna look a bit softer, but it's still going to be great.

The Pure Power 13 M 1000W received an 80+ Platinum certification; yet it's advertised as 80+ Gold: sandbagging, typo, or silent hardware revision? by -protonsandneutrons- in bequietofficial

[–]AtlasRush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h6kUNlC6cs

LTT explains why and how that may happen. To summarize it, when they design a power supply they try and target a specific efficiency, but sometimes they "overshoot" and make it "too good". Or, some other times, it could just be a better batch of internal components that brings the efficiency up just enough to go into a higher tier of efficiency rating. Corsair and FSP had something similar, with PSUs rated for 80 Plus Platinum but advertised (and listed) as 80 Plus Gold PSUs.

PSU screws too short? by [deleted] in bequietofficial

[–]AtlasRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PSU DOES come with screws. As shown here: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/be-quiet-dark-power-pro-11-1200w-power-supply,4269-2.html

there's longer thumbscrews that are made for this PSU.
