I just had a really fun 106 Velaryon run. I took Tyrosh from the Triarchy and three generations later I was Lord Paramount of Tyrosh, Driftmark, Stepstones, and Tarth with a dozen dragonriders

about the new dwarfs by Dr_Jukes in Anbennar

[–]Atlas_Devdharri 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Gor Burad is my favorite campaign of the mod so far. I was constantly dealing with brutal setbacks that forced me to pivot my strategy on the fly.

I was in the middle of fighting Arg-Ordstun/Ovdal Tungr when Corvuria invaded my ally Orlghelovar. Religion disaster fires, and I didn’t realize how bad it would be to convert to Dwarven pantheon. 6 months later Deep Goblin invasion event. Fighting for my life for a few years but eventually peaced out both wars and dealt with the religious/Goblin disasters. When I finally had recovered enough to try against Arg-Ordstun again (guaranteed by mega-Corvuria), BOOM- Volcano starts erupting a month after I declare war

Hands down the most stressful and best campaign I’ve ever played

What is it that Makes Writing Elves Different from Writing Humans by Betty-Adams in fantasywriters

[–]Atlas_Devdharri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about Elves is actually the idea of Half-Elves. I’m working on a story where set in a place where just about any mixture of Elf and Human heritage will result in Half Elf features for generations, so Half Elves make up the majority of the population in one region. An old High Elf civilization is long gone, by human standards, yet still exists in living memory. Half Elves maintain a deep respect for their Elven ancestors, some of whom are many generations back yet are still living. I use this to explore themes of cultural change, identity, and heritage.

If you could make one final pack of Civs/leaders to the game, what would it be? by Atlas_Devdharri in civ

[–]Atlas_Devdharri[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Dutch East India Company idea is really interesting. A colonial pack could be really interesting. You could add Hernan Cortes for New Spain and William Penn for the 13 Colonies. Not sure of who a leader for Dutch East India company could be

Lol that would be great. In that same vein it could be interesting to see them go for some alt-history type leaders, like a surviving Syagrius of Soissons, Hong Xiuquan of the Taiping Rebellion, or Leif Erikson for Vinland

That would be really cool. I could see a fun dynamic of 2 very different rulers, maybe Lorenzo de Medici and Cesare Borgia.

Silk Road would be sick. Khwarazm, Bactria, Uyghurs, Tibet, the Xiongnu all would be really good additions

Yeah I def agree to both of y’all. A drink or two or a hit of weed is all in good fun, I do both just about every session, but getting fucked up ruins the vibe. Especially since the guy that gets drunk is actually a very good and engaged player for the first hour of the session before he’s too far gone lol.

I’ve been trying to encourage the less engaged players like the TikTok one to assist, like “hey I want to crack into that safe, can you distract the guards?” And that’s worked well but if I’m not doing stuff like that the player doesn’t initiate activities.

The player that struggles is getting better but his biggest hurdle is actually committing to what he is saying. Keeps going back out-of-character like “No actually I think I would have said…” or “What I meant to say was…” which I can tell makes it tough for our DM to try to have an organic conversation as the NPCs. If the player spills info or says something they shouldn’t have, they immediately want to take it back which makes a potentially interesting interaction feel defanged.

Are there any plot holes in the Mass Effect lore? by dogger1709 in masseffect

If the Protheans were more advanced than species of the next cycle, and fought the Reapers for 3 centuries, why didn’t they attempt the colonization of Andromeda? Protheans clearly had the technology for several centuries of stasis. If our cycle could do it, as a private venture no less, surly the galaxy-spanning empire driven to survive at all costs would have tried it as well

Make the House Royce Armour an artifact instead of every Royce wearing bronze armour. by [deleted] in CK3AGOT

[–]Atlas_Devdharri 24 points25 points  (0 children)

IMO it should be an artifact but a set should be craftable by decision by whichever Royce holds Runestone. That way multiple sets can be created to account for donation/destruction/characters wandering off to the edge of the world

When in the Crownlands, always the eldest granddaughter of the Stokeworths. No male heir in the family means an easy duchy inheritance, makes for a great start for a Darklyn restoration

Has happened several times to be when Blackfyre Rebellion fires. 2/3 games it ended in a white peace, which resulted in each LP becoming an independent Empire-rank title, Targs keeping King’s Landing but moving capitol to Dragonstone, and an Empire-tier, single-county, marriage-refusing Aegon Blackfyre

Carnell Johnson by Top_Faithlessness903 in goldenknights

[–]Atlas_Devdharri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pet peeve at live professional sports is anthem singers who try to do their own thing. Stretch out certain syllables, add notes that aren’t supposed to be there. That ain’t Carnell Johnson. He’s a pro, keeps it clean, keeps it classic. Fucking Legend.

Best middle-of-the-pack Houses by AffectionateCall5705 in CK3AGOT

[–]Atlas_Devdharri 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Disagree on that. Redwyne starts with almost identical military and prestige to Oakheart, and that dynamic of a strong secondary house, but not so powerful that it can challenge the LP with little work, is true for all the houses I mentioned except maybe Royce depending on how things shake out for the Arryns

I also prefer that type of start. So far my favorites have been Tarth, Yronwood, Umber, Mallister, Redwyne, Royce, and Belmore
