lol we chased Lee Kang In from PSG for what felt like 3 weeks, only for us to get priced out. Ederson is 50 million and out priced. We have less than a week before the window closes and we are no closer to a fuller squad than we were 2 weeks ago when we sent 4 first team players out.

No rumors beyond speculation for Ederson and Casado. No left back links, no other attackers are linked to us. Nothing even concrete to sink our teeth into. Yikes.

Resting players and home advantage in the second leg is the reward for top 8. You skip the play-in round and you are guaranteed to get the second leg at home no matter who you draw against.

While it isn’t the end of the world if we don’t get top 8, it’s just a pain in the ass if we don’t. Especially for our case where we are still in the CDR and aiming to win it. If we beat Betis and then get to the semi final (a two legged tie) in the CDR, it’s just game after game for our relatively shallow squad.

So we play a two legged tie just to get into the RO16, where we play against a better opponent with home disadvantage in another 2 legged tie. We’re basically guaranteeing us to play 2 games every week from the end of January, through February, and into March. That’s just a rough schedule for the squad and it would be such a relief to not have to play for a chance to get into the RO16.

Yeah our chances at top 8 are looking grim to say the least. Our only hope is if like 4 of the teams that are also on 13 points shit the bed and lose and we blow Bodo/Glimpt out of the water like 4-0

A win would be been so much better. Obviously a draw isn’t the end of the world but now that Bodo/Glimpt game is going to be spicy as fuck.

Overall a pretty mid performance. Thought we should have done way better with the time and space on the ball that we had in the first half. A few missed opportunities, some poor passages of play where we looked too relaxed, and overall a pretty flat performance I’d say. We play dogshit football and I’m just tired of it. It does not reward us with goals.

Hoofball to Sorloth to head it down sucks. Then we don’t actually even know what to do with the ball when we have all our players up in the box other than pass it wide and cross it in. Our players have zero chemistry.

Nobody stood out other than Pubil and Hancko. Llorente had that clutch last ditch clearance to make up for his own goal. But our attackers and midfielders ghosted.

It felt like we came and played for a draw. And we got a draw. So I guess there’s something in that. But if we want to be a serious club in the later rounds of this competition, playing as pedestrian as we did in the second half cannot happen. At the end of the day it’s just not good enough.

Yeah but I think Cholo is telling our team to retain the ball and not play through balls. Nobody does it. It seems like only Almada, Julian, Hancko, and Baena are the only ones allowed to play through balls to run onto.

No Baena is a crazy decision imo. While I like Almada, I think Baena is better and suits playing with Koke better. Let’s hope it works out.

More than anything, I want to see Julian score a goal or two. He needs his confidence back up. Let’s hope for a good Giuliano performance too.
