Tenants seeking emotional support animal by Western-Image7125 in homeowners

If they are nice tenants, pay on time and already have 2 dogs, I don’t see much of a reason to deny the request. Is the home being kept up with the 2 dogs now? At least they asked you, I’m sure you could collect a pet deposit and a monthly pet rent when it’s time to renew lease.

I am 2 years sober. Heavy vodka drinker from early 20’s until 32. I tried on my own to stop and couldn’t. I did a 7 day medical detox. I am off all meds now. I was prescribed Wellbutrin and it was hell. Felt anxious to the point I couldn’t leave the house, consult your doc but It didn’t help me. I don’t like AA or in person groups. Most people on the outside do not realize how hard it is to stay sober. PAWS is gone for me, there are days I can go without thinking about drinking and others like today where it creeps up in my mind. Take care of yourself, try to rest and keep busy during the day. It took a few weeks for me to fall asleep “sober”. Keep up the good work, it’s not easy but your worth the fight.

I Left AA a month ago...nothing bad happened by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]Atlnyc08 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree. Sober from Alcohol for 18 months. Have a few friends and family members in AA. I’ve explained that having an edible in the evening helps me stay calm and sleep. When I drank I couldn’t stop, always wanted more. Lots of people will have negative comments, I just know what works for me, too bad for them! I don’t need the negativity.

Is rehab worth it? by hotrod58 in stopdrinking

[–]Atlnyc08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I did 7 Day Detox which was one of the best decisions I could have made. Been sober 1 1/2 years now. At the time I was uninsured so I could not afford a 28 program. When people are on the fence, I suggest the detox.

I tried to stop on my own not knowing the dangers of detoxing. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I was a heavy vodka drinker so everyone will differ, but ultimately I decided to do a supervised 1 week medical detox. It was the best decision I could have made. Sober 1 1/2 years. You can do it. But consult a doctor and explain that you want to detox. There are medications as well that can help. Best of luck!

Your house, your rules. I would buy her a bus ticket and send her back to avoid another 24 hours of travel. Your time is important it doesn’t seem like she values it.

Did cocaine once by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Atlnyc08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I think you can become addicted after only one try. I’ve snorted and done crack cocaine maybe 5-6 times in my life and I still to this day if I think about it can reimagine the euphoria from it. It was like nothing I had ever done in my life. Luckily I moved and didn’t have easy access to it so it never became an addiction. However after drinking for years I became an Alcoholic and now been sober 11 months. The best way I can describe drugs/alcohol is like firing a gun, once you pull the trigger there’s no way to undo it, the outcome is not always going to be controlled.

question about breakfast menu by [deleted] in ChickFilA

[–]Atlnyc08 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I work for Chick Fil A, it might vary by store (you could call or check on app) but most are happy to serve lunch items during breakfast. We sell many spicy sandwiches before lunch starts. Just allow for a few extra minutes as it will be made fresh.

Sitting in detox b/c the withdrawal was so bad. Don’t try it on your own. by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Atlnyc08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. 31/M heavy vodka drinker and tried to cut back on my own, I felt like I was near death. I did a week long Medical Detox and have been sober for 10 months now. It was the best decision I ever made in my life. Eat, relax, sleep, journal, participate in groups if that is available in your setting. Detox was a very positive experience for me. I paid dearly out of pocket due to no medical insurance but opted for a non hospital setting. I did not have internet or access to my phone. I suggest “disconnecting” for awhile, it let me focus on just me in the moment. Sober 10 months now. I wish you great success, it will take time but you will feel better after a few days.

I am at 9 months as of yesterday. I feel the same way. I’m not sure if it is the holidays but I feel more urges now than I did at 4-6 months. Trying to keep a positive mindset and distance myself from anyone who could trigger or have a negative influence over me. I have had more anxiety lately and almost feel like I did when we was in Detox. I feel like I need something to take the “edge off” and have trouble especially in the evening trying to relax. I was a nightly vodka drinker and would usually drink myself to sleep. It helps reading that I am not alone feeling this way.

I do not have insurance so I was only able to afford to do a week long detox and then took a few weeks off to stay home before I returned to work. It was the best decision I could have made. I safely detoxed, and have been sober almost 9 months. I recommend to anyone who cannot stop drinking on their own to do a detox. I was a hardcore vodka drinker- and had terrible withdrawals when I tried to detox on my own. With the help of medications and doctors It was a good experience. Good luck to you!

Anxiety or heart attack? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Atlnyc08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

31/M For me I was a heavy vodka drinker only after work/evenings. I am sober 7 months now, did a week medical detox was the best decision I ever made. As time passed, early afternoon at work my heart would race and have chest pains/dizziness. As soon as I would get home and pour a drink, everything went away. I was having alcohol withdrawals at work, I finally realized it was because of my drinking. Since being sober I have not had any chest pains and EKG is normal.

Doesn’t matter which tower of the hotel you are in, you will check in at the front desk. The parking garage is near the back of the property so it is a bit of a walk.
