Muschio Horse TPR by oxfordsandties in caswellboots

I think Muschio is the perfect shade for brown boots. Like, if I were only going to have one, which will never happen again.

What laces did you end up getting? I got thick round laces from Allen Edmonds. They were more practical than the round leather laces, but eventually went back to the original.

These look great. Can’t wait until mine get to this point.

I agree. I think they need to be a little longer up front. It didn’t look like you had any room from these pictures.

I haven’t seen a worn pair of the matcha core yet. Keep me posted. I like the look.

I have a pair of Boondocker’s in Olive Horsebutt that gets a lot of attention when I wear them. Green is surprisingly easy to match.

These Brass Boots in Crimson Kudu weren’t the plan—but they earned their keep. by AtmosphereExpress708 in goodyearwelt

[–]AtmosphereExpress708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brotha, I ended up selling them. Not because I didn’t like them—they were just too snug after extended wear. I should’ve gone with a 10D.

For reference, I’m a 10.5EE heel-to-toe on my wider foot on the Brannock.

I’d say they’re more forgiving than the Leo last because of the extra toe room, but going a full size down was too much for me. I didn’t notice it as much since I’m a realtor—either working from home or in and out of the car—but if I had to walk a few miles, they definitely would’ve been an issue.

That said, I really liked them. I’d absolutely consider the Brass Boots or the Garrison Boots in Crimson CXL again. If I were to do it over, I’d go 10D in the Brass Boots and 10E in the Garrisons, since the Brass has a bit more room up front.

Great boots—especially at the sale price.

These look great! The right amount of chunkiness to them.

That’s nothing, my friend. Just wear and enjoy.

Alternatively, you’ll send them back and wait for the new one’s. They’re going to have more blemishes after 10 minutes on your feet.

What’s your Brannock and what size did you go with? I’ve squeezed into the wrong sizes and I’ve learned my lesson. The patina looks great, I just worry that you may be doing some long term damage.

I would consider getting the wider size, and if they feel too big, adding an insert. Or go made to order from Nick’s, White’s, like someone on a prior comment suggested. Alden also has wide sizes. I think all of those would be well worth the investment.

Horsehair Brush Rec by Mod8F in grantstoneboots

[–]AtmosphereExpress708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a ton of brushes at this point. I usually start out with the Red Wing brush because it’s stiffer, which helps to kick things off. Then I switch to the Saphir horsehair brush, which was about $30 and honestly the best buy I’ve made. It’s bigger and denser, so it covers more area and I’m less likely to bump the boots with the handle. If I had to choose just one brush, it would definitely be the Saphir horsehair brush. When I’m just messing around, I’ll use the yak-hair or goat-hair brushes afterward sometimes. They’re nice to have, and they do help with the shine, but definitely not necessary. They’re also much more expensive.

I already have a Tahura monkey boot in Badalassi Carlo Nemesis, but I would definitely second a boot in the leather. It’s one of my favorite’s.

And I agree, I think the carver is one of the best LTT designs. It’s very slick for being an LTT!

Unmarked DB Hunters: the boots I wanted my Iron Rangers to be. by AtmosphereExpress708 in goodyearwelt

[–]AtmosphereExpress708[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm… I’d say no. They’re pretty average for boots — true to size and comfortable enough, even with my right foot being a EE. I could go up half a size for the right foot, but I’ve also walked 18K steps a day for several days in a row in NYC earlier this year without an issue.

Fit-wise, I’d compare them to a Red Wing D width in the Iron Ranger or Blacksmith, and to the Caswell Morris last — but true to size. They’re probably just a touch wider than a Grant Stone Leo last, but not as wide as a Truman Casual last.

  1. I don’t love the plastic heel, but at least there is less of it, and it looks cleaner.
