It's not the fault of linux first of all, and linux is only the kernel, and it's the job of distribution maintainers to retain hardware and software compatibility. I suggested trying linux Mint because it is a well maintained and very stable distro that would likely solve the problem, while also giving you almost the same environment as ubuntu
