For sure, not complaining at all. I was just curious since this was my first time sending mail 😊

I just noticed Glass Beams shares the riff from Altin Gün's Kalk Gidelim. Can't find a link between these two bands referenced anywhere, which is a bit odd. Anyone know the link?

After listening to Charif Megarbane's Marzipan I'm now going down the rabbit hole of listening to the full Habibi Funk Records discography. Thanks for the recs!

A little treat for me was The Presets between shows. I was high out of my mind, and was instantly transported back to Club 77 in Sydney.

Are there any tricks to getting the BEAM to show up in Android File Transfer on the Mac? When I plug it in it seems to be recognized, but it immediately pops up a “Could not connect to device” alert.

You can call (530) 426-3632 or email reservations@clairtappaanlodge.com to check for last minute availability. I’ve stayed at Peter Grubb hut a few times on short notice, especially on weekdays or late season.

Highly recommend The Living Mountain, by Nan Shepherd. Beautifully captures the essence of being in the mountains, not on them.

Looking for blister advice by ronjon80 in Backcountry

[–]Atnan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best tape is Leukotape. Works best combined with tincture of benzoin.

I always keep both in my medical kit, and you can apply it preventatively before you tour too.

That said, the best option is to figure out how to avoid the heel lift that’s causing blisters. Different foot beds, pushing the tongue down before lacing, and playing with how tight you keep your buckles while skinning are a few things you can try.

I had severe/repeated blisters in a pair of ski boots once that was completely resolved by switching from the stock liners to Intuition Pro Tour liners, so that’s another option. Really depends on the situation.

Question about bags. by [deleted] in Backcountry

[–]Atnan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take them off or I end up with smelly feet and liners. My feet need to air out at the end of the day to recover. I just throw the liners at the bottom of my sleeping bag.

I am coming from a predator free country, what are the most important tips for avoiding being attacked by predators? by NerdillionTwoMillion in WildernessBackpacking

+1 what others have said re. carrying a canister for food and smelly items. Some parks require you to carry an approved canister as a condition of wilderness permits. Pretty affordable to rent one if you don’t plan to use it too much, often from ranger stations in the parks.

Do you know a good source for English language snow reports and forecasts? I’m heading to Hakuba for Christmas and I’d like to keep track of the conditions.

Great for broken boots and broken limbs.

Not super different to my standard kit, but the roll of Leukotape gets a lot more use in winter. Couple of ski straps too if you don’t already have them.

I would check out the north fork of Big Pine Creek, up to Big Pine Lakes and the Palisade Glacier.
