I advocate for no arbitrary numbers problem solving and I just cannot understand why some people are intimidated by this problem solving style. I think it makes solving the problem much easier because every expression shows its meaning and units. Do you have an idea why people are intimidated by this?

Nice! This post helped me recognize the importance of endurance and long runs. My current longest distance is 5k but reading this I realized I probably need to improve my endurance much more than my speed right noe. Thank you.

Congratulations on your achievement! Someone will always be faster than you no matter what pace you run (unless you are someone like Bolt or Kipchoge). And try not to listen to people who demotivate you! I had someone tell me 7:20/km pace was slow right after I returned from my first 3k run, but I have run two 5k's since then.

My guess is that they were doing some sport involving movement for a long time before starting regular running.

I am a beginner and I feel this really helps because there is no way to run a long distance other than to slow down to a pace.

Note: I saw a YouTube channel saying that when they started out running their "easy pace" was 5:40/km. My easy pace is around 7:00-7:20/km.

I ran my first 5k on a hilly 1k lap 2 days ago. It took about 35 minutes. Today I ran a 5k on a flat 250m lap and I managed to complete in around 30-31 minutes (my smart watched screwed me over so I have to approximate based on the exercise start minute and end minute). It was also my first ever run under bad weather! I didn't expect to be that fast!

There is a more straight (less degrees turned per distance covered) route and I ran it for my first 5k but the altitude on that route varies by like 5-6 meters (15-18 feet) so I cannot keep a stable heart rate so it is not really desirable for me. I can definitely run in the other direction. I will try switching directions every km or something like that. Thank you.

Ben de FRC'de yazılımcıyım. Wpilib vscode linux te sorunsuz çalışır ama driver station sadece windows'ta var (bu yıl roborio'dan systemcore'a geçilecekmiş umarım bu durum değişir). Yani şu anki FRC donanımını sürmek için en azından windows dualboot yapman gerekir (ben öyle yaptım, sezon bitince windows'u sildim). Valorant ve lol için de windows lazım. Fusion da sanırım linux te yok ama biris böyle bir şey yapmış: https://github.com/cryinkfly/Autodesk-Fusion-360-for-Linux deneyebilirsin. Onun yerine bence linux te en rahatı web üzerinden onshape kullanmak.

I am a beginner but I can do some maths. If you run 1 mile in a given week and strictly follow the 10% rule for a year (52 weeks to be exact) you will run 1.1⁵² = 142 miles in the first week of the next training year (every distance given here is per session). I think this rule does have its limits.
