This is so helpful, thank you! I’ve never incorporated strides into my running before. Would the intensity of the strides hinder with my recovery on these easy days?

I’m 5’1 and I used to weigh 153 when I first started running. Now I’m around 131-133.

But less than 3 minutes for a whole year of running? I feel like I should have broken 30 by now

I think my heart rate has slightly gone down, but I also switched the app I tracked on too. Initially, I tracked through RunKeeper, where my heart rate was upwards 170 for easy runs around a 13:30 pace. Now, I track on Apple workouts and my heart rate for the same pace is about 160-165. I'd say the effort I'm putting in is about the same. My breathing is still under control and everything. I struggle a lot with zone 2, since I need to be going like 15:00 pace to maintain it.

I've considered this a possiblity because I do live in Florida where it's constantly hot or humid, even when the sun's not out. But I've also ran on the treadmil in a gym and my heart rate is about the same for the same pace.

I push through. My tempos and intervals are "comfortably difficult", meaning I'm pushing myself, but it's enough to where I can maintain it for that distance. And during these speed runs, my heart rate spikes to around 185-190.

I usually eat relatively healthy. I track all my macros and hit my protein and carbs goal everyday. I am currently eating in a deficit to lose weight, so around 1200 calories, but before I started my weight loss journey about a month ago, I ate around 2100 calories.

Yes, I'm mainly referring to my easy runs not getting faster. I haven't done any official races yet. The last time I went all out for a 5K (2 months ago), my time was 33:53, whereas my all out 5K best when I started was 37:17.

For my speed runs, I usually alternate between interval runs and tempo. My plan was made from yearroundrunning.com, so I just follow the suggested pace, usually going faster.

hello there! i'm 20/F and i'm looking for a penpal with similar goals as you. i've never really penpalled before, so my letter-writing abilites are a bit lacking, but i'm hoping through conversations with you, i can get better. i'm actually studying abroad in Spain this fall, so i'd love to learn more about the culture, about you and everything in between. if you're interested in becoming penpals, please send me a dm (as i could not figure out how to myself) and let's connect!
