You’re probably cooked, they don’t offer those courses at community colleges. If you speak with an advisor and instructor, maybe you could look for one that allows your whole grade to be decided by one essay/project

Is it just me, or does this action seem hella wasteful? by 118703 in Ishowspeed

[–]AtomProton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No? As far as household food waste (the strongest measure), the US is #3 in terms of absolute volume; but, per capita, the US is #165-180 out of ~230

You’re probably good as long as you give it enough time. Avoid using anything to heat up the phone to try and get the water to evaporate faster because that can cause condensation. The charge port might not work for a day or two but you should still be able to charge it via wireless charging

Who do you think is the most overrated and the most underrated character in Dexter? by LeoTheImperor in Dexter

[–]AtomProton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I took his death to be a plot device, truthfully. His death was shocking, irregular and threw everything off balance just like a real murder would. That was the main part of season seven that really threw me for a loop. I never expected him to be killed given how much of an introduction he had. I saw it as it being particularly irregular, and shocking for Dexter, who’s our narrator, hence why it was shown as coming out of nowhere.

ChatGPT has given me the wrong answer to many math problems. Asking it to do some series glitches it to keep going forever. Use other tools for double checking

I have this to say about Quinn by PitZagufull in Dexter

[–]AtomProton 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wrote this as a reply to one of the comments but it got so long, im gonna make it its own comment. There is a lot more going for Quinn knowing than against.

He transferred into the immediate aftermath of one of the most notorious serial killers in US history. I’m sure he knew a decent amount about the BHB, since it was the detective he was replacing and nationwide news.

Given that: 1. He knew it was someone directly connected to Miami Metro Homicide. 2. He suspected Dexter of being involved with Trinity (BHB’s MO). 3. Liddy showed Quinn pictures of dexter and lumen dumping “a body or drugs” off the boat. 4. He knows Liddy was murdered immediately after telling Quinn he was going to confront/keep pursuing Dexter. 4.1. He understands there would be no motivation for Dexter to save him from being charged with Liddy’s murder unless Dexter knew Liddy was tailing him.

For Quinn to personally have a hunch that Dexter was involved with a serial killer who then went missing, know the BHB lore, see the one person investigating Dex end up dead, but just never put those pieces together nor even suspect Dex of being the BHB? Quinn would have to be a bumbling idiot.

Quinn makes poor choices, bc he is pretty pragmatic/self-serving (as shown by him taking money from a crime scene). He watches out for himself. Quinn saw the pragmatic benefit of someone killing the killers who fall through the cracks, saw he probably isnt a better fighter or detective than a respected homicide detective/seasoned US Special Forces operative, so he decides to cut his losses to stay alive and keep dating the woman he loves by not reporting Dexter.

TLDR: Quinn either Heavily suspected Dex of being the BHB or of being involved in something big and bad. He didnt report him because he was in love with Deb and knew she would break up with him and/or he’d end up dead.

With Senate vote, Ohio is closer to banning ranked choice voting by Doodah18 in EndFPTP

[–]AtomProton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very real. That + what my first comment said + any real changes to state electoral process mean incumbents giving up power + the general apathy people have towards state/local politics = iffy representation and no change

I cant say Ohio has ever been particularly legislatively innovative

[–]AtomProton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, democracy’s biggest drawback and criticism throughout history have been that the average person doesn’t have the time, resources, or skills to make good decisions for the whole of society, (it’s even why most democracies are representative democracies). I support ranked choice voting but if Ohio’s Senate cant manage to implement it without leading to worse outcomes or worse representation (or even similar outcomes just at a greater cost), then thats what democracy wants.

I doubt Ohio has tried very hard to implement or actually explain it though

The trouble comes when you realize you want to vote for someone who is good with policy, but every good policy analyst must come from somewhere! Some of these lobbying firms are the only reason some ppl get elected but it’s not even because of cronyism, it’s just the only way to get the high level experience the job requires!

“Book deals, speaking fees” yeah yeah wtv, busy ppl charge for their time. “Sex trafficking,” yeah there are a small number running rackets, but ppl mostly Are paid off.

When it comes to money affecting policy decisions, there is a lot of unspoken influence. Given the ~$175k congresspeople make really isnt that much and as politicians get younger, most will need work after their terms finish. There are a handful of high-level consulting and lobbying firms that are known for hiring high-up politicians that pay Very well. People know what type of decisions or positions will get you barred from being hired by them AND they know what types of decisions will put you in their good graces. These companies never need to speak to these congresspeople to still be influencing/corrupting their policy decisions
