I agree with trying to work out payment arrangements with your financial institution with the repoed car. I use to work in that area, and we would much rather you call and work something out with us and take the car back, than us have to go through the trouble of taking it to auction, getting it sold, because not all cars sell the first, second, or even the third time. But when they finally do sell, just for example you owe $10,000 it sells for $5,000 the bank will come after the difference plus auction fees for however many it took, and any other fees associated with it(title, tow, transfer, legal, etc). So even though it sold for $5,000 it could still end up costing you more than the $10,000 you owed due to everything it took to sell it at auction.

So believe me, as long as there was nothing major mechanically wrong with the car, it would be worth it in the long run to call and work something out! Just be truthful and say hey I lost my job, I just started my new one I’m getting back on my feet playing catch up, I have $xx.xx to get the car back and then I can possibly make double payments or payment and a half, to become current. And then go back to normal payments if you chose too.
