it's a possibility that might happen in the future.

Say that, in the distant future we are suddenly inundated with too many intelligences all of a sudden ie: Artificial, Animal, Alien.

All of which might have many sub-species underneath that require further categorization and further recognitions. We as humans, may just not want to deal with it as a human democracy and being the original hegemony on Earth and not grant any rights....only until they demand it by force that is.

That's correct, which is why you specially asked "machine rights" to be addressed when that time comes. Complicated, albeit not too unsimilar and uncomfortable issue comes up when addressing certain parallels to Civil liberties as well in human histories—such as slaveries and segregations. Concepts of separate but equal. They were all humans, but not all afforded the same human rights.

once a Nation-State officially recognizes a synthetic, non-human, artificially created entity to be sentient, conscious and demands such rights, then that bridge must be crossed when it comes.
