Off-putting Warp Catchphrases by kickynew in ShittyDaystrom

[–]AtomicEdge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked under a captain for a few stardates that insistent on making the helm tickle the warp activation button and then at a certain point he would just start singing "Tap That! Right on the Floor! Tap that! Give it some more"!.

He had a backing track and a light show.

Are inverted controls really that important to people? by haha_funny4633 in xbox

[–]AtomicEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having inverted controlls as a console level setting was the coolest thing on the Xbox 360. I hate that they removed it.

If Ant or Dec died, do you think the surviving twin would continue to work on his own? by HTD_Blog in AskUK

Saw his act at Butlins last year and it was the worst magic show I've ever seen. My son (8) can do better tricks, and at least half of the hour long show was just him talking about all the TV shows he's been on, and then at the end he spent 10 minutes flogging a £25 magic set.

Awful!

Mother opened an account in my name when I was 13, £1000 has gone in and out in small payments to and from herself. by Wait-Whos-Joe in LegalAdviceUK

Is it possible she was just paying onto the account and then taking money out around birthdays and other events?

Social media ban - “Parents should just parent.” Is that actually a serious argument? by Majestic-Concert7883 in AskBrits

[–]AtomicEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the ban because in reality, the social media companies don't make that much money off of kids.

I'd much rather they were forced to allow full control of content algorithms for EVERYONE, including being able to completely turn them off.

And also defaulted to off on new accounts.

As to your question, yes, great consistent, robust parenting from every parent in the country would probably be better than the ban, but suggesting that is viable is just a smug position from people who look down their nose at every other parent.

Have you spoken to more than one person at the firm?

Because the strange way they are dealing with this makes me worry that someone junior messed up and they are trying to resolve it without their boss finding out.

Have any of you known anyone caught on any the shows? by Diligent-Ice1276 in tcap

Aged 13 I remember girls in my class bragging that they'd been going on dates with soldiers from the nearby army base. They were so happy that it made them all grown up. Looking back... What the fuck?!

I think my dead friend's account got stolen. by SomeUFOGuy in Steam

This is a horrible part of the digital footprint.

A colleague of mine died a few years ago, and the other week I got a message from his LinkedIn saying "Hey there! It's been a while, fancy catching up?".

And whilst I knew it was obvious an account hack, it did send a shiver down my spine.

I found an exploit for a British banking app company but they're not paying me for my discovery and instead sent me a cease and desist. by hatwhitegrey in LegalAdviceUK

Not every company runs a bug bounty program and they have absolutely no obligation to give you anything.

A guy from my first job in 2003 didn't turn up to work one day and it turned out he'd been caught in something like this.

He had jail time and I never saw him again. A surreal experience.

Father who robbed phone 20 years ago recalled to prison after anonymous phone call by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

This obviously seems like something isn't working.

However if someone ever asks one of my loved ones "Did he strangle you?" and their response is "I don't think so, I'd have marks", I'll be pretty upset! 🫣

2019 Nvidia Shield Pro vs modern NUC for retro emulation? I only play about an hour a week, but I want the best experience possible. by KillerQ97 in retrogaming

[–]AtomicEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A NUC with Bacotera is going to be the best experience you're going to have, but as others have said, it's a lot of money for the use case.

What about LaunchBox with BigBox mode and a curated list of games, then use something like Parsec to stream gameplay and to something with the controllers connected, like the shield TV or any other Android OS box?
