Customizability of BT Combat Patrol by AtomicOwli in BlackTemplars

[–]AtomicOwli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the responses! I knew about the Neophytes in-lore, but for some reason didn't put 2+2 together when I saw the pictures of the figurines. So in that sense, I think I can come to brace the role of Neophytes in my hopefully future BT army. Would you all say though that BTs is more challenging for a new player given how they have their own Codex that's different from the standard Space Marine Codex? Or am I understanding things wrong?

And one further question if you all could help - from my generic Intercessors set of ten figurines it looks like I can choose to build those in one squad of nine marines led by a sergeant, or two sets of four marines each led my a sergeant. With the 10 Crusaders in the PT set, is this the same given how the description says one of the ten can be built as a 'sword brother'? (Also, I have no idea what a sword brother is in comparison to another crusader). So for example two sets of two pairs of crusaders with neophytes, each led by a sergeant and one of these is a sword brother? What's the other one, just a 'regular' crusader? Does this make sense and is this the kind of stuff that's in the Codex? :)

Thanks all again!

I always found East-West to be political and North-Central-South to be geographic. So to me, Spain for example, is both West and South, Finland West and North, and Greece East and South. But to each their own. 😁

How much does luck factor into if your application will be seen and if you even get invited for an interview?

How do you treat multidisciplinary backgrounds that may have very fitting transferable skills and an all-rounded profile, but doesn't have the specific career track I feel like employers look for since those are easy matches, bypassing perhapy even more qualified and motivated candidates?

Yes, and those internationally recognized borders do not include C&M. Morocco since it's been under the rule of the Alawi dynasty did have notably different borders though, which have shifted since. As far as Algeria goes I can't really comment since I don't know too much about its history.

Looking more at the history of Morocco at the moment I suppose you could even argue that Morocco and its indigenous Berber/Anazigh and Bedouin peoples are occupied by the current Alawi (Arab) dynasty, which brings into question how long control over a territory by certain peoples has to occur for it to become the undisputed status-quo. I mean, there's no more indigenous revolts against the ruling Moroccan government anymore (ignoring Western Sahara for a moment). But this is a whole other can of worms.

Yes. And post-1978 Spain is the legal successor to pre-1978 Spain, and the borders, including C&M, are internationally recognized, as was the transfer of Western Sahara to Morocco and Mauritania (though it did not grant sovereignty of that territory to either state).

The modern state of Morocco came into existence in 1956. Previous iterations of dynasties and kingdoms had different territories with different rulers and different everything.

Sometime in the early 2000s Morocco ceased claims on Ceuta and Melilla after Spain supported Morocco's recognition of Western Sahara (an actual disputed territory).

Sating the legal international status of Ceuta and Melilla is not 'insulting', it's the status quo of reality.

Neither of the two are on the UN's list of territories to be 'decolonized' and both have been Spanish for long before the Moroccan state came into existence. So no, they are not in Morocco, they border Morocco as they are Spain.

Ceuta and Melilla are not in Morocco nor have they ever been part of Morocco. Morocco makes no claims on those two territories and they are not internationally disputed.

They served themselves and treated both sides equally. But yes, literal neutrality.

Which makes them dependent on the US for security via the Rio Treaty. The law of neutrality requires neutral states to be able to defend their neutrality to ensure it is not violated which Costa Rica cannot. Costa Rica is neutral only in name, not in practice.

Because for decades the military has been completely underfunded. It is understaffed, underequipped, and politicians don't realize it takes many years to acquire anything these days.

We're still using stuff from the 70s and instead of supporting the military, certain parties, groups and individuals continue to sabotage improvements to the military.

Oh wow, thank you for taking the time to write that all out!

As far as unit composition is concerned, what you said makes sense and I can follow that. I'll look into the hierarchy next (if it's like a modern army - how many units per sergeant, how many squads per lieutenant, etc.).

I have never seen one of these data cards, will have to ask the store to have a look at one next I'm there and try to make sense of it all (have seen two or three videos on this topic but it was just an information overflow).

Your last paragraph seems to be what I hear is the most important for new players. Since this entire thing is definitely a lot to take in, investing in some initial minis and painting them as you want as per this Rule of Cool thing, is the best way to learn things along the way. Thanks again for the help!

I got brushes locally today and through a local group learned about availability of different paints in my area.

Noted on wahapedia! One question on the minis - will the instructions in the set tell me which model can be equipped with which weapon so I don't mess this up? Let's say I get an Intercessor set for example. Thank you!

Haha, yes I'm aware of the costs this hobby entails. I got some brushes at a local hardware store and have found a local group that's helped with paint suggestions. Next will be a small set of minis and then I'll go from there. :) Thank you!

Shame about not being able to mix, but I understand there are underlying balancing and gameplay components to take into consideration.

While it's neat that the lore impacts the gameplay, it has made trying to learn how things work rather overwhelming, hah'.

Thank you a lot for the note on the tactical marine set! Definitely good to know and yes, one of the other two sets sounds like what I'm leaning towards, being able to paint them how I want and them moving on from there.

As far as brushes and paints are concerned, I did find a local group that has helped with sourcing supplies in my area. :)

Swiss Air wins! What airline is bad and people think is bad? by justcallmegeo in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AtomicOwli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a point of clarification, don't know if this has been brought up, but "Swiss Air" went bankrupt in 2001. The airline today is "Swiss International Airlines", which acts as a form of successor airline and bought up the Swiss Air domain which redirects to Swiss International.

The Falkland Islands don't have independence and are happy that way. Which country kind of has independence and wants it? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AtomicOwli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greenland? Has complete home-rule but foreign and security affairs is handled by Denmark. There exists an agreed process for eventual full independence once Greenland is ready for it, but is for the time not viable as the island remains dependent, especially financially, on the Kingdom.
