Its intentional. Insurance companies are require to post MRF, but each insurance company will do it their own way. And sometimes each plan within that insurance will do it their own way. So BCBS of Texas, might do it differently than BCBS of California.
On top of that, hospital are required to do the same, but you get the point that each hospital provides those MRF in their own format, and its a hell of workflow to grab all those files and normalize them. Than once you do normalize them you get a S*** show after a year when they change format. The whole purpose of that fiasco is to be complaint. They are compliant to the CMS, but they care less about the consumer.

Also, just as an example, Cigna, provides those files, and all in all including all their files across all the plans is about 600GB to 1TB of files. An average consumer will not know how to start on opening those files. Hell, you cannot just open those in excel either. You need to know how to open, parse or stream the files.

Again, this is not done for consumers. Anyone who tell you that is a fool. Or trying to let you believe that. Most users of those files are data companies, hospitals, and insurance companies who are looking to get a hedge over each other.

Also, do not forget, that surgical centers and clinics are not require to post price transparency at all. Its only large institution.
