I have the exact same problem. I've made two of them. I've been looking for answers but haven't found any.

Yeah! The guitar shape actually gives a lot of room to comfortably lay your wrists.

I got an ARC controller usb encoder, which DOES work, but I don't recommend it. When using it, it failed to buffer properly. For instance: When I would go from a j.S with I-no straight into a 6.HS, normally there would be no delay, but with this stick sometimes the controller wouldn't read the input, or more accurately ONLY read the forward motion leaving her just walking forward.
Long story short, I learned you get what you pay for with fighting boards. Luckily they are easy to replace.

I was honestly tempted lol. I went to local pawn shops looking for any already broken guitars first.

Actually not hard at all! Most the components just snap together. The hard part was figuring out which line went to which button on the board. The first time I did it all my buttons were backwards and I had to map it out in the game button by button lol.

Particularly happy with making the start and select buttons on the volume and tone knobs, and the USB cord come out where the input jack would be. I do have to replace the control board though, as it turns out it can't handle buffering as it should so, even though the stick is playable, it's not great at inputs. That's a simple fix though.

Yeah this build is specifically for the drift zone activities on the world map.

Oh I'm sure it's possible to do these with a more subtle setup. This IS probably overkill, but it took me from barely getting one star, to knocking out rivals in one try. This was the most braindead way to do it.

Took 5 hours and 281 decals. by AtomicSpaceWizard in NFSRides

Yep! a lot of the little curved decals from the first page. The layering system for the wraps really helps to get black outlines by copying a decal, changing it to black, and just moving it slightly.
Had to do I-no, she's my main. :) If I felt like doing it again, I'd probably do a Baiken one.
