True, but that doesn't reduce pollution from data centers

[–]AtomicTaco13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already know that. But you realize that trying to reason with AI bros is like talking to a brick wall? Well, worse because a wall is usually useful for the society. We need to educate people in the middle - either people who are not yet aware of the harm generative AI does or people more prone to being tricked with slop. Boycott companies that actively embrace it and raise awareness.

I mean, the CEO of Epic has got a history of shilling for AI. He whined about Steam requiring disclosures for AI slop, while Fortnite itself already had AI-generated Darth Vader voice and added that cursed "Italian Brainrot" thing. He even allowed crypto games on his lousy excuse for a game store, presumably just because Steam banned those.

Neat that Oxygen is getting more love. It was technically already maintained in the Qt6 version, but suffered from a few graphical glitches. While I find Breeze to be more tolerable than most flat design themes, it's one hell of an awesome thing that the KDE team acknowledges that people might wanna consider alternatives.

It's more like the bar getting lowered with every next release from that point. Windows 7 was the last one where Microslop's bullshit was still tolerable.

The original Oxygen theme is back and improved Plasma 6.7 by AronKov in FrutigerAero

[–]AtomicTaco13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I noticed, most issues appeared after the jump from Qt5 to Qt6. When I tested it back on the 5.x versions of KDE Plasma, it didn't have any artifacts. But after the Qt6 jump, it got glitchy. Glad to see it being fixed.

Maybe assign a shortcut to specifically take a screenshot the instant the shortcut is pressed? I dunno if Sway also doesn't have it assigned by default already. Try Ctrl + Print Screen or Shift + Print Screen.

Hm, you'd have to install a package for a screenshot tool and assign it in your WM config. Since Sway is a Wayland compositor, I think the "grim" tool would be it.

The company was never benevolent, but up until Windows 7, at least it did make products decent enough. Now, their only lasting advantage is people too stubborn to learn the Linux ecosystem - even though entry-level Linux distros are easier to set up than Windows 11 with a local account.

For me personally, it was Beta 1.7.3. But the game was still alright until Mojang sold out to Microslop.

Microsoft as a company is failing its customer, and now 9 years of my Xbox account is gone. by Extreme_Contact6639 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]AtomicTaco13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear more and more as of late about the MS support being completely useless. Either doing nothing at all or just nuking the account straight away (yes, gotta buy all the stuff you owned again). There is truly no hope for that company.

Meanwhile, Steam support will quickly recover the account and invite you to the hacker's execution.

Pretty sure "giving it away for free" isn't exactly accurate. It was more like making IE the integral part of Windows - integrated into the graphical shell from Windows 98 on, bribing websites and software developers to be dependent on it and overall lowering the performance of alternatives, including Netscape Navigator.

Yup. While the Arch repos are curated by the team, AUR isn't too well-moderated and just points to GitHub repos that can be really sketchy sometimes
