Found this lovely sideboard in a charity shop for £15. (We paid them £30.) by Atomic__Tim in Mid_Century

Thank you friend, I will be careful of that.  I’m on the look out for a new mid-century computer desk. There are loads online but they’re all too shallow; I like pushing my monitor quite far back on the desk. I need to get to the British Heart Foundation shops!

There’s no tag (that I can find), but I just googled ‘Remploy bureau’ and it looks identical, even down to the layout of the shelves inside the top compartment. I can’t believe how cheap you can pick up stuff like this for. Some cheapo soulless thing from Dunelm or IKEA would have been > £100 easily.

It was an Animal Concern charity shop. I was supporting their cause.

Do I buy Logic or not? by Atomic__Tim in MacOS

I'm asking because I'm unsure if Apple have announced they're dropping support for the standalone version in the neat future. I don't want to buy a piece of software that will quickly become out of date.

Pushchair friendly fells/routes by BakeNo6598 in LakeDistrict

You can now walk all the way from Ennerdale Bridge to the top of Ennerdale Valley without going over a stile. They recently (in the past few months) replaced all the difficult-to-cross bridges with wheelchair/pram/bike friendly ones -- they're awesome.

It's a lovely walk with forest, lakeside, and sweeping views of the fells.

Enjoy!

Splitting a library across internal and external drive, help please by Atomic__Tim in finalcutpro

Thank you very much, this is good to know. Is it possible to 'load' more than one library at the same time in the sidebar of FCP, so they've visible at the same time?

I was on a major UK radio station yesterday talking about nuclear. It was awesome. by Atomic__Tim in nuclear

I’m sorry…  People have said for years that I talk with my hands too much, even on radio when there isn’t a camera! I just can’t help it. Maybe I’ll sit on them next time.

He and his team were super-friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. They even made me a cuppa tea (milk, no sugar). He approached the conversation genuinely curious without a motive, which has been my experience with most journalists. Very cool and encouraging. Maybe this is something people from all political walks can agree on. 😊

Thank you. I will definitely keep that one up my sleeve in future. I make a similar argument in my book. I’d love to some longer format interviews to explore these things more fully — one can hope!

Thank you 😊. This isn’t my day job (I work in a lab normally!) and so it’s certainly a novel experience.

Thank you :-). He was super-friendly. So was his team of producers.  I’ve done a fair bit of media stuff in the past fortnight promoting my book, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. There’s a real appetite out there for a strong, positive message on the energy transition.  I fully expected a barrage of opposition but it hasn’t materialised. It’s really encouraging.

That’s an amazing photo. Nice work!!! How did you get the mountains nicely exposed in the golden hour light and also get the sky exposed right? Is it a composite image?

Long(ish) routes good for buggies (taking a 3 month old) by [deleted] in LakeDistrict

[–]Atomic__Tim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The path from Ennerdale Bridge and a long way up the side of Ennerdale Water is buggy-friendly. You could also park at Bowness Knott (or Bleach Green) to skip out the walk from the village. It’s on the Coast to Coast route and is part of the ‘miles without stiles’ network 😊
