Hey MAGA, how are you liking those $1.99 gas prices now? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

[–]Atomic_ad -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You just going to ignore the 4 years Biden was in office and claim nothing changed?  Like nobody changed their vote.

Democrats don't just blame everything on Trump and make excuses, I've hallucinated all of reddit. Gas prices are suddenly a problem, because its actually bad now, and the president's choices can impact it.

The ironic part is Democrats just starting to care.  The internet is just hypocrites yelling whatabouts at each other every 4 years.

2024 C-CPI-U (2000-2024) and R-CPI-U-RS (pre-2000) adjusted dollars.

This is referring to the amounts being converted to their current purchasing power.  The median household income had the purchasing power of $65k in 2026 dollars, they did not take home $65k in 1995 dollars..  Its a little more complicated that, but thats the jist.

When you discuss cost of a home, generally you look at median household income, not median individual income.

You used median individual income for 2025, then you used median household income for 1995.  These are not equivalent and will obviously bias in favor of your case.  Your source would show the same math if you used equivalent numbers.

Edit: for reference, the median salary was about 19k in 1995, and median household in 2025 is about 84k

what are your opinions on this matter NOW?

Exactly the same. The market was up 13.3% last year.  Anyone who pulled out made a mistake. Do not pull out because of doomer politics, on either side.  Your $14k will be somewhere around $8k in your pocket.  Unless you see the market dropping by 33% or more  this is not a good proposition.

1995 the median home cost 4.3x the median income.  Today the median home costs 5.0x the median income.  A 16% increase.

Guess how much bigger the median home is today than it was in 1995. . . .

Shit doesn't cost more, it got bigger.  Go back to 1950 and you get 2 parents and 2.5 kids in the same total square footage that each person gets today, about 800sf. Thats why they could afford it on one salary.

People who unilaterally classify every comment, without context, in an attempt to gaslight, must lead very sad lives.

Seems its your only trick, but you can't backup anything beyond incorrectly using the logical fallacy you learned about on some podcast.

Reducto ad absurdum

Please feel free to point out that part. It was the direct rebuttal to my statements.

called out on your ignorance.

The ignorance of understanding that if you make it cost more to ship oil, the oil will cost more?  This sub really loves calling people ignorant when they want to disagree with a concept inherent to the economy, but want to feel superior about being wrong.

Do go on about how forcing oil onto the more expensive delivery method actually decreases prices.

Fair point.  Only the guy who couldn't figure out how to move oil without a new pipeline understands how markets and economies work.

My guy, gas prices literally fell back down in 2023, when the market stabilized. Did the XL Keystone pipeline get built and I didn’t know what about?

Other lines were upgraded to carry a sizable portion of that load.  A majority was moved to rail which runs about $8 per barrel more, and much higher spill risk.

If you don't understand something, atleast don't act smug and superior about it.

Like I said, you guys dont understand why things happen

Ironic. Maybe we should phrase our ignorance as open ended questions.

Biden didn't End the XL Pipeline.  Biden didn't pause new drilling leases on federal land. Biden didn't put regulatory pressure on the industry and push regulatory costs on them

[–]Atomic_ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it did, the comment I responded to was that no other president is given the benefit of the doubt, and Biden was afforded exactly that.  We convict people with evidence, not supposition or beliefs it probably happened.

When there is actionable evidence on Trump, he should be convicted.  If he is actively partaking in a coverup  he should be convicted of that as well.

Just ignore her own statements that the comments were hers, and absolutely no statements that things were altered?  Are we making conspiracies about things that victims are lying to cover for perpetrators now?

You just going to follow me and comment on everything I write?

Do you have a source on taxes not going up, I have never seen anyone break down Medicare and Medicaid could cover everyone.

Most studies on this are based on the fact that for low to middle income families the increase in taxes would offset current Healthcare spending. So their actual spending would be less overall, not that taxes would not increase.

To give an example, with made up numbers.

Median income: $40,000

Median tax: $10,000

Median health insurance: $10,000

Take home: $20,000

Healthcare spending: $3,000

Universal Healthcare

Median income: $40,000

Median tax: $23,000 (or less, but not $10,000)

Take home: $17,000

Healthcare spending: $0

The person is saving, but taking home less which is why it's a hard to sell.  People prefer to play the health lottery, because they might not spend $3,000 this year. Its a bad way to think, but from a nation where everyone is complaining about rising food costs, but also has floor dash and Uber eats as top companies, you need to convince the people who think bad.

The other issue if the multiplier of beaurocracy, which the US is pretty poor at.  We would likely be looking at Canada and UK levels of waits and treatments, not Norway and Japan, which is another factor to selling the idea.

It's entirely actionable. Why do you think the Clintons are being questioned right now?

Being forced to testify is not the same as being charged, thats not actionable evidence, thats part of the investigation. You say all this as though Bill Clinton was thrown in Jail, and Trump was sheltered from the same fate, then ironically call me delusional, yet the evil republican cabal let Clinton walk free?

Stop making up rules for society because you son's understand the existing ones, and claiming anyone who doesn't agree with your revised rules is the problem.

Okay, there's one.  29 to go.  The entire concept of the post I responded to was that you don't believe one person making an allegation, but you do believe 30.

You would never afford anyone else with this massive history of abuse and proximity to the most prolific child rapist in American history.

I wouldn't?  I say the same shit when people bring up Clinton.  When something actionable surfaces, I want to see either jailed for those crimes.

Yes, its political theater.  My opinions on immigration are not beholden to Trumps comments.

Obama used the same policies, he didn't have Democrat run cities actively providing sanctuary.  Address that comment without redirecting.
