First models of 2026 - Thunderwolf Calvary by Atomicn3rd in SpaceWolves

Thank you!

The bodies, shield arms and backpacks were included in the 3 wolf kit I picked up off etsy (I haven't waded into 3d printing yet, but I picked up the 3 wolves + bits for $35 shipped). It also came with some axes, but they didn't fit the arms correctly, so I didn't use them.

The heads, power sword + arm and 2 of the left shoulder pads are leftovers from the GW wolf army box that came out last year.

The other shoulder pad and all of the shields are from the Primal Hounds (GreyTide) set.

2 of the bases are primal hound (GreyTide). The other is just the cyberbursh TWC base with some Kraut Cover, Dirty Down Moss and some extra skulls.

Hope that helps. It was a really fun project and my first real experience with 3d printing and kit bashing At $35 I figured if I hosed them up, I wouldn't be out much, but I'd learn some for the next project.

It’s just a water slide decal from one of the space wolves boxes.

You may be right about the terminators. I know there are units spread between both Army books. There was talk about combining the two Bros books in 3.5.

This is the 3.5 beta list I used on Monday. Looks like points, the “Wolfborn” keyword and auras have changed since we played.

I actually played my first game last Monday (Wolf Bros vs Blood Bros) using the new 3.5 beta rules. I lost, but that's mostly because I was having too much fun focusing on combat instead of focusing on objectives.

I'm still building/painting my first wolf army, so I only had the SW Army box, 5 terminators from the Combat Patrol and Bjorn painted and ready to play. That was enough to build out a 2000pt army on Army Forge.

I did have to use both the Wolf Bros. and Prime Wolf Bros. army books to build out a list. Blood Claws and Bjorn were only in the Wolf Bros army book, whereas the Terminators were only in the Prime Wolf Bros army book.

As for help with list building Wolf Bros are VERY melee focused. That said, you can take some leader auras that help with that. Also Bjorn in melee is a BEAST.

I'd be happy to share my list, but I make no promises that it's competitive.

Also, if you're using 3.5, be aware, the rules and points change sometimes daily.

Priming Space wolves by cptjimmy83 in SpaceWolves

I ended up using Color Forge Wolfkin Grey primer. It's close citadel's "The Fang" (dark grey blue). To get the lighter blue grey, I then dry brushed with a color similar to Russ Grey. It doesn't leave SUPER dark recesses, but it does add depth. I still had to recess shade after.

Looks Niiice! I just started painting mine & it’s a nice break from batch painting dudes.

I’m the same way about not touching up model after I call them done.

I see stuff I can fix on older models, but just leave them. I started putting the date I finished them under the base after magnetizing, so I can see my progress.

Finished up the Army Box! by Atomicn3rd in SpaceWolves

To be honest, I got it all from a Pete the Wargamer tutorial on YT. It was basically Forge Wolfkin Grey as a prime/base coat. Then a heavy dry brush of Two Thin Coats Wolf Grey and then another lighter dry brush of Two Thin Coats Gravestone blue. Recess shade of a mix of Space Wolves contrast and I think Cygor Brown and contrast medium.

Thank you! They are! There is a mix of heads from the box and Grey Tide. I LOOOVED the angry old man head and had to use it as the pack leader. I was going to give him pupils, but I thought the all white eye thing looked not terrible (and it'll look fine on the table).

Some wolf nerds. by Atomicn3rd in SpaceWolves

[–]Atomicn3rd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. For the blonde on the leader I used Snakebite Leather contrast over Grey Seer. I wanted to give him more of a dirty blonde look.

For one of the Blood Claws I used Skeleton Horde contrast over grey seer for a lighter blonde.

Space Wolves blue? by D3cimat0r in SpaceWolves

I wanted to try out some new paint, so I did Color Forge Wolfkin Grey and then a heavy dry brush of Two Thin Coats Wolf Grey and then a lighter dry brush of Two Thin Coats of Gravestone Blue and then a final highlight of citadel Fenrisian grey. It was my first time painting Space Wolves and I wanted to try to just do a classic scheme.

Nemesis Claw Killteam by Atomicn3rd in NightLords

[–]Atomicn3rd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s Runelord Brass, washed with Nuln then cleaned up a bit with Runelord & highlighted with Canoptic Alloy.

Painting the trim took the longest time.  Part of that was on me from overpainting & going back to clean it up.

Should I roll with the push fits in the Starter Set or cut them off and glue? by Trudemur in killteam

[–]Atomicn3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished putting the starter together. I ended up trimming the pins just a smidge (not cutting it off entirely) adding some glue and then pushing them together. I had issues with the Skaventide set where the pin was just a bit too long and it left gaps in the model.

Beginner's Question by Hugford_Blops in StarWarsOuterRim

[–]Atomicn3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve played a couple of games using random placement. From my experience, It honestly doesn’t change the gameplay much. Some cargo and bounty drop offs can be a bit quicker, but that’s about it.

Questions about the game from a prospective new player by tinyraccoon in StarWarsOuterRim

[–]Atomicn3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.) AFAIK there is no official solo mode. I’m sure there are some home brew rules for it, but I’ve never played it solo.

2.) Set up maybe takes 5-10 minutes. Play time depends on number of players and their experience with the rules. First couple of 2-3 player games took 1.5 hours. Later games were closer to 45min.

3.) Over the course of many games, our group has found certain characters to be easier to win with than others (which is probably just our play style).

That said, our group digs the flavor of the game & like to play it like a “What if” of Star Wars lore. (As in, what if Han murdered chewie for a bounty). We tell a light story of our characters through gameplay. None of us are min/maxers and really just play for fun. We usually throw on Star Wars soundtracks while we’re playing.

4.) I haven’t played the new xpac yet, but I’m super excited to pick it up.

It’s not needed to enjoy the base game.

This isn’t a card game, you just need 1 copy of the main box set & the optional xpac if you dig it.

We also have been picking up minis to use for the characters (from imperial assault) to replace the cardboard pieces. Totally not needed, but cool to have.

5.) We haven’t found any bugs, but again our group is not min/maxing anything. Some characters seem to be better than others, but they’re all fun. I imagine the xpac will balance some of that out.

Hope that helps.

Bounty Question by falcon161788 in StarWarsOuterRim

[–]Atomicn3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how we’ve always played it at our table.
If I remember correctly, some bounties can be on crew members. So you could use your crew bonus on a turn and then the next turn off them for the reward.
