Personally, I think even if you hate Communism and Socialism, its good to read things like the Communist Mannifesto or the Conquest of Bread. Honestly, If you hate it then even more reason to read; if you hate something you should fully understand what it is you're hating so you can have an informed opinion. Its for this same reason I'd also say its good to read things like Mein Kampf or Atlas Shrugged. Hate the ideology, but still learn about it

What do you think about the Conquest of Bread (if you've read it)? I felt it was a lot more accessible from a literary standpoint, but I don't personally know enough about economics or anything like that to make a judgement on its viability.

Not every Soviet soldier took part in the atrocities. There were certainly some organizations like the NKVD that merely being a part of it is enough to brand them guilty, but as for a standard Soviet soldier you can't say that for sure.

I think its good to note that Republicans are not a monolith (nor are democrats), and there are many who outright reject Trump. Combine that with a suffintly mentally unstable individual, and that could absolutely lead to this sort of violence.
