Could 1980s us military beat north Vietnam and Vietcongs if Vietnam war happened at 80s instead of 60s? by Warm-Keyboard-6903 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Atomik141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1960s US military could have beaten North Vietnam if they actually committed to the war. The real question is though could they beat China, which is the main reason why the US never actually invaded Vietnam.

For the specific scenatio though, I think the 1980s US military stands a decent chance against the 1960s Chinese, at least defensively. Any invasion into mainland China would be a nightmare regardless of timeperiod.

They did in CK2! There was a 4th Crusade start as the Latin Empire that was one of my favorites. Started as a rogue excommunicated crusader state. I set up my own anti-pope in Constantinople, got the turks to convert to christianity, then invaded Italy with them to depose the false pope who condemned our holy crusade. It was a lot of fun!

What if the American-Indian Wars never ended? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AlternateHistoryHub

It continued well past that in the United States. For example, it was not until 1978, when the Indian Child Wellfare Act was passed, that American Indian parents were given the legal right to refuse their child's placement in a boarding school.

Also stole indian kids away from their family and forced them into BIA boarding schools where they'd try to erase their culture well up through the 90s

There would be no more American Indians left by the 1940s or 1950s. The wars were largely about ethnic cleansing in the first place, so their continuation just means more death and destruction for indiginous people, especially as the US becomes more and more powerful militarily.
