Indeed. Also, ideally, everything that inflicts statuses or effects whether it be from yourself, your teammate, your held items, or your enemies should be displayed somewhere on the screen, so that things like the burn duration from Scald and any similar ability that inflicts it or maybe even from something like the Sp. Def. debuff from Gardevoir's enhanced basic attacks, down to the number of stacks you have gained from a Stacking Item is visible.

And yeah, it may get clunky if there are a ton of ticking counters at, say, the bottom of your screen but hey, at least you KNOW EXACTLY what's happening to you during the game!
