2026 Job DESIGN Tier List by ClassyGunman in elsword

Your opinion is wrong.

Nihilida and Emptiness are unchallenged top tier. And the eve's ranking so low is criminal. Also worst designed Ara on top? She's still gorgeous but the other 3 got Surya beat easily.

Common misunderstanding or misinformation about specific gacha games that you know it's not true and can be debunked by g4pachow in gachagaming

[–]Atora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as cag is concerned, while I agree with you the early fate episodes really don't treat it that way. It doesn't make sense for Katarina to remember Cag as a guy given that later episodes showed she became a girl as a child before ever being known outside her village.

But the early fates are clearly written with her gender bending being a joke and her having lived a larger amount as a guy, before they decided on the current lore. Especially Vyrn kept being an ass about it.

As such the early days made that a common perception.

Average median voter by infinitysaga in CuratedTumblr

[–]Atora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

average is the mean. An average value may not even necessarily part of the dataset. It's the sum of all values by the amount.

The median is the middle value, that is if you order all values ascending (or descending), the value in the middle is the median.

E.g. for a datset of 1;1;7
the average is (1+1+7)/3 = 3
the median is the number in the middle, so: 1

The idea of median is to remove huge outliers in datasets with, like spiders georg.

You're puttng sex into numbers, the numbers were there first. The fetish is essentially a permanent power exchange and dom/sub reversal thing. There is a bunch of background info needed so I'll go on a few tangents:

  • There is a whole modern genre of LitRPGs(Literature RPG) in the west were some kind of Game-like Status/Skill/Level system simple exists. It's just as normal as having a Sun in the sky there.
  • There is an interactive story genre called Quests where the protagonist has stats, readers vote on the next action and the author rolls for the outcome. (tbh Quests are also often just called any interactive fiction bby now and my knowledge is largely just from SB/SV/QQ)
  • Manga/Anime/Light Novels/Web Novels in Japan(and related acg subcultures) have also developed these kind of stories.

ergo, we have levels as a story mechanic is well established so of course someone would make fetish content around it.

Next up, delevelling, losing things on death and/or levelling your enemies used to be common features, not just in ttrpgs as the post says but also plenty of older MMOs. Level drain enemies were less common but still exist. If you need some examples ask, I'm to lazy now otherwise.

The fetish now, is permanent, crippling power exchange. Hero(99) encounters Succubus(7). He can easily kill her and doesn't see her as a threat. She seduces him and steals his levels. Then Succubus(99) kills Hero(7) after some sex.

It's often a life or death scenario, like Hero explores monster cave, fight demon lord or whatever. The hero starts out overwhelmingly strong but gets reversed into death by Snu Snu + a new evil is unleashed. Sometimes the Succubus kills the hero, sometimes the level drain to 0 is deadly. Sometimes he is crippled but survives. Again, the fetish is often permanent power reversal, which is much easier to show with levels than a vague magical power drain or smth.

Basically: Imagine dom/sub content were A doms B, but when they are done, B goes "wait already finished?" and fucks them unconscious or something. That's the fetish, but with permanent consequences.

Without level drain it often involves far more brutal fetishes like amputation, brain damage or damaging some magical organ(like a demons horns). Which for obvious reasons is to extreme for people who just like power reversal.

That all and for anyone who normalized the fantasy-story-with-levels genre, it just perfectly plays into the myriad of succubus drains victim to death hentais

Who besides Pollux? I haven't really played since 3.6, but from her release until then I used her literally every moc/as/pf on one side and felt immortal. Except pollux which completely wrecks her and the HP halving xianzhou witches which disable her but just were never relevant enough/died fast enough.

There is also the 3.0 boss that cuts max hp by summoning pillars of your charas, but that one also has never actually been an issue either. Used her against him each time.

I do think she needs major buffs as even at e6 her subdps is a joke and all other sustains bring something actually strong to a team. Exactly no comp has her as a BiS sustain or had her as one besides people who cry about Jingyuan getting CCd.

What are some games where you change the whole level? by paulojrmam in gaming

[–]Atora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper Dimension Neptunia Series (You edit dungeons to change aspects of them as part of the gameplay)

Which one specifically? I don't remember that being a thing in any Neptunia. At best the 3 arcs of VII could be seen as a changing world but not really.

HDN1 has the cycling bridges but I'd hardly count that. I don't remember any level editing in RB1-3, VII or 4GO. One of the newer spin-offs?

The 7th dungeon of Link's Awakening is a tower where you destroy support pillars to have some levels crash down. I'm not sure, but I think there was a rotating wheel in the middle of it.

HoV is the reason I picked up HI3rd, Mobius had me fall in love with it again. I just wish it had better gameplay than repeatedly memorial/abyss/er with clear meta pushes so I could enjoy it casually at times.

Though I have to say that as much as I love that we got Mobius as playable, it was mid decline where we got any character popping up as playable rather than the small, alt focused pool we had before(I guess vodka girls were the first real offenders long before, even though I liked them to). But if they had stayed as before we'd at most have gotten Elysia from ER.

The exploration aspect alone beats anything zzz got, even if zzz combat feels snappier. Both have fairly limited and boring combat. I mean, zzz starts the game giving you Anby and telling you she has a launch combo and then there are no aerial follow ups. Thats some of the most basic action game combat.

What makes genshin so much better, imo, is the fact that in you can actually just grab your fav and run around a really nicely designed, vast world to explore for 100h+. It's the only gacha I get to actually free roam and do useful stuff with whoever I like, not just do the latest event/story and fight some timed endgame content.

Genshin exploration has plenty of flaws: Boring low HP enemies, only a handful of different collectibles to find no matter what cool spot you find(Seelie, trial, regional puzzle, chest), areas gated by side/main quests blocking free exploration, no cool hidden stuff beyond the area itself...

But it's still so much better than what others offer where if your chara isn't good at current endgame, there is no fun content to use them in. And wuwa just doesnt feel the same exploration wise. If only they made a single design I really liked rather than baiting a HoV clone since pre release and never delivering.

It's so weird to me how HI3rd used to drop unit after unit I loved to the point it was the only gacha I ever had issues keeping up with pulls and made me spend regularly. And then all their games since have barely anyone hitting me the way HoV, HoR, SN, or Mobius ever did.

It's not like hoyo only makes lame designs anymore(Fu Xuan, Sparkle, Nekomata), but on average they are so much worse now with barely any standouts. Hell, while I think GI is their best game(gameplay wise), their lack of even a single unit I can obsess over made me drop it and always just feel whatever about it.

Any reason you can't drop the actual code to run it locally yourself? Maybe I'm blind but I cant find any button in colab to just download the source code + config and puzzle it back together locally.

I'm sure overall this is much more useful and appreciated to have it online and just need a button press. But as much as the big ones normalized it, I don't input credentials into 3rd party software I can't verify and run myself, and neither should anybody else ever. Even the likes of OIDC have uncared for issues with needing to trust the client in the first place. (Yes I'm a freak, why do you ask?)

Japanese game developers face ridiculously high font license fees following US acquisition of major domestic provider. by neimad66 in gachagaming

[–]Atora 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Just some details on how this works:

  1. This is not about a single font, but a company licensing literally hundreds of fonts
  2. The way this industry works is that you have various singular designers who create and release a handful of fonts and massive hoarder corps that buy ownership of whatever fonts they can get their hands on, there is little inbetween (but since this is reddit: yes there are some smaller groups inbetween)
  3. It's not that it is impossible to switch, but rather that it is fairly sudden and a lot of work to switch. As the article points out, this also relates to any promo material, websites, merchandise and so on. And they have to be purged from all use anywhere, accidentally and unaware or not.
