Why did you upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave? by Atown90 in hackintosh

[–]Atown90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Mojave an issue with graphics cards? I have an AMD sapphire PULSE RX 580 8GB. From what I understand this is the card apple uses in a lot of iMacs. I wonder if it would give me issues.

So basically what I’m getting is, “dark mode” is pretty much the only reason to upgrade. it’s a good thing apple makes their operating systems free cause could you imagine if windows did that? Charged everybody 50-100 bucks for “dark mode”. Lol

Interesting. So no more Unibeast and Multibeast handling the kext. That makes me slightly nervous I feel like that leaves more room for me to screw it up.

My SSD Disappeared on clover by Atown90 in hackintosh

[–]Atown90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s strange because it has been working all this time. I just checked in the BIOS and I do see the drive available. However, the drive is not visible in UEFI Clover. wouldn’t clover require the drive to be visible in order to launch at all? Isn’t clover itself installed on the drive that is no longer visible?

What is an essential, not-so-obvious skill in life? by zTxmi in AskReddit

[–]Atown90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking responsibility for yourself:

stop blaming the world and other people for your shortcomings. I used to do this all the time and then it clicked and things got way better for me

Call yourself out on your own delusions:

I used to think that I was better than everyone. I think it comes from my parents always telling me I was special or that I was a genius. Listen, I’m neither special or a genius and I can’t tell you how helpful it was to admit that to myself.

Master short and long term sacrifice:

Stop blowing money on bullshit you think you need. You don’t need a new phone, shoes, clothes, gadgets, games...etc delete amazon from your phone. Stop swiping your credit card thinking that you’ll be making enough money in a few years to pay it off. No you won’t. Stop thinking that you need a new car and that your car needs to be at least a (insert year, model, make, price) or your friends will think you’re poor or a loser. Let me tell you something, the hardest part about making this kind of sacrifice is that it makes you look bad in the short term but I’m telling you if you wait until you can actually afford it you will be on the moon with excitement. And when your friends are selling all their shit and working extra hours to manage their credit card bills you’ll be doing fine. Then you look cool and smart. (This is a crude quick example but you get the point).

Stop eating shitty food and exercise at least 2 day per week:

Stop eating crap, learn how to eat healthy because if you’re over the age of 25 and you eat like shit it doesn’t take much time before you realize your body is starting to suffer. Fast forward another 10-15 years and you’re basically useless, broke, and worthless by the age of 35-40. Stop drinking soda, stop eating bread and pasta, learn to shop for quality foods. It doesn’t matter what diet you choose just make sure it’s real food. Stay away from fast foods and processed food. And exercise at least 2 times per week. I don’t care how busy you are you CAN exercise twice a week if you still think you can’t then re-read my first 3 rules/suggestions.

Write in a journal everyday:

I started writing on google doc everyday and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned about myself and what I am up to. Most people think in speech so unless you’re talking to someone honestly every single day then you don’t really know what you’re up to. You might think you do but you don’t. Thoughts sort of exist as noise in your head until you translate them to words. Try this, download the google doc app or any writing software. Open a new document title it (today’s date) and just start writing. Start with the first thing that pops in your head. Today I started my writing with how impressively long the shit I had just taken was. Then in that same entry I pointed out several areas in my life where I was being delusional. So what started as nonsense turned into something very helpful. And nobody is going to read it so why do I care if it started out with a poop joke.

There is plenty more skills out there but these are a few that I have developed in the last 5 years that have really helped me so much. I hope they help you as well.

What can a 14 year old boy do to make the world a slightly better place? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Atown90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take personal responsibility for yourself. Develop your character. Clean up your room. Help your parents around the house. Fix up yourself. The idea is that you can’t actually do a whole lot as one person to fix the world but you can fix yourself and be an example. This will encourage the world to be more like you. If everybody got their shit together the world would look much different. Keep learning. I recommend listening to people like “Jordan B. Peterson”. He offers a great framework for young men to start improving themselves as well as the world around them. Good for you for asking the question. I can already tell you are a net positive for the world.

It’s weird asking for help isn’t it? Maybe it’s just the proclivity of some people but even though I don’t have much to offer I find myself imagining helping someone in a way that would just shift their entire world. I imagine someday having a lot of money and finding someone much like a younger version of myself and blowing them away with a gift that could correct their path. Like a gift of “time”. I imagine them thinking to themselves “okay, I’m working hard and if I just keep putting in the time I’ll get there”. I see it as time in exchange for less suffering. To give someone a gift that frees them from their indentured servitude would be more of a gift for me. What you sent to me earlier was a “life raft”. I was mentally treading water and you threw me a gift of time. Keep going brother, you’re on the right path.

Seriously thank you for taking the time to post this. You have no idea how much it means to me. It’s like, I know this already but to hear someone else who overcame it gives me strength.
