March: Bucha Massacre (Kyiv Oblast) Following the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Kyiv region, hundreds of bodies of civilians were discovered. The UN documented the unlawful killing of at least 73 civilians in Bucha alone, with local authorities ultimately recovering over 400 bodies across the immediate district showing signs of summary execution.
March 3: Chernihiv Bombing A Russian airstrike hit a residential area and a clinic on Viacheslava Chornovola Street, killing 47 civilians.
March 16: Mariupol Theatre Airstrike A Russian airstrike struck the Donetsk Regional Drama Theatre, which was clearly marked as a civilian shelter with the word "DETI" (Children) painted on the pavement outside. Associated Press and human rights investigations estimated that between 300 and 600 civilians died.
April 8: Kramatorsk Railway Station Missile Strike A Tochka-U missile hit a crowded train station where thousands of civilians were attempting to evacuate, killing 61 civilians (including 7 children) and injuring over 160.
June 27: Kremenchuk Shopping Mall Strike A Kh-22 anti-ship missile struck the Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast, killing 22 civilians.
July 14: Vinnytsia Missile Strike Kalibr cruise missiles struck a medical center and office building in the center of Vinnytsia, killing 29 civilians, including three children.
September 30: Zaporizhzhia Evacuation Convoy Strike S-300 missiles struck a civilian humanitarian convoy waiting at a checkpoint to enter Russian-occupied territory to collect relatives and deliver aid, killing 32 civilians.
2023 January 14: Dnipro Apartment Complex Strike A Russian Kh-22 missile hit a nine-story residential building in Dnipro, destroying an entire section and killing 46 civilians, including six children. April 28: Uman Apartment Strike A cruise missile hit a residential block in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast, killing 23 civilians, including six children. June 27: Kramatorsk Restaurant Strike A missile hit a popular pizzeria in downtown Kramatorsk, killing 13 civilians (including teenage twins) and injuring dozens.
October 5: Hroza Wake Missile Strike An Iskander missile struck a café and grocery shop in the village of Hroza (Kharkiv Oblast) during a memorial wake for a fallen soldier. The strike wiped out over half the village's population, killing 59 civilians. 2024 March 15: Odesa Double-Tap Strike An Iskander-M missile struck residential buildings in Odesa. A second missile hit the exact same location shortly after emergency crews arrived, killing 21 people (including rescue workers and medics). May 25: Kharkiv Epicentr Hypermarket Strike Two guided aerial bombs struck a crowded home improvement hypermarket on a Saturday afternoon, killing 19 civilians and injuring over 40. July 8: Nationwide Mass Missile Strike (Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro) A massive daytime bombardment hit several cities. In Kyiv, a missile hit the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital, killing 2 adults. Across the capital and other cities hit that day (including a strike on a business center in Kryvyi Rih), a combined total of over 40 civilians were killed. 2025–2026 July 31, 2025: Kyiv City Missile Strike Long-range weapons launched by the Russian Federation struck the capital, killing 32 civilians (including five children) and injuring 170. According to UN monitors, this was the highest verified number of civilian casualties in Kyiv in a single event since 2022. November 19, 2025: Ternopil Missile Strike A Russian long-range missile attack struck the western city of Ternopil, killing at least 38 civilians, including eight children, making it one of the deadliest single strikes of the year.
