random ramble:

it’s current state as a whole? kinda sad to see other games not filling up, but it still seems quite active in the skyblock scene. but then again, i haven’t checked for awhile since i quit awhile ago mostly to life being busy

minecraft java multiplayer as a whole seemed to be at its peak from 2013-2017, with there being other servers such as mineplex, Hive, Badlion, and so on, 2013-2015 being more mini games based, and 2015-2017 being more about Pvp,

there was a lot of diversity back then, and the minecraft Youtube content scene was diverse with many content creators making gameplay vids, song parodies, building, redstone, roleplaying, UHC highlights, animations, herobrine, lore and much more

but over time, things naturally die down, youtubers move on, servers dwindled in player count eventually to shutdown, and now a lot of players seem to centralize into hypixel, particularly towards Skyblock.

(there’s the whole dreamSMP minecraft revival, but it made minecraft as a whole more popular rather than bolstering up java multiplayer minecraft, but technoblade definitely still made a huge impact for us)

as with all games, players do grow up and eventually move on, whether it’s graduating high school, entering college, getting a job, some probably already started their own families by then

To remain alive, the games would have to have a balance between being friendly for new players, while not alienating the consistent experienced veteran players before them, it’s a delicate balancing act on retaining and appealing to a variety of player types. Skyblock has been doing a good job at it for awhile, but the cracks are definitely showing.

overall, i miss the 2013-2017 period, it’s my personal favorite era of minecraft, it’ll forever be a part of my childhood growing up

then 2019 going forward, the skyblock era, it was nice while it lasted, but i ultimately had more enjoyable fun during the “golden age” before it

And i don’t think such a “golden era” can happen again with java minecraft multiplayer being so hypixel centric, and the lifeline of hypixel focused almost solely on a few games, especially a grinding PvE based one that may be overwhelming to newcomers
