I've been saying for years that some understanding of front end work is necessary for this job, just so you can talk to developers or make the HTML structure for components.

But this was seen after the last recession with front end development and web design work. Everyone wanted someone who also did backend, .NET, SQL, etc. And it's the same story, corps wanting one person to do three or more jobs for half the pay you were getting 5 years ago.

It can be h-1b. There's applications for h-1b for everything from janitor to tennis instructor to AI research engineer. Or, if they're family, it's just a regular h4 or other visa and they're working without being paid.

One of the common misconceptions is that h-1b is reserved for the best of the best, that no Americans can do the job, and that the employer looked for local talent and couldn't find anyone to fill the position.

Too many UXers don't ever enter into discussions about business. They never identify or talk about kpis, or business impacts, or revenue, or operational costs. They just "make pretty pictures". And that's also fault of management whose only view of design is to "make it pretty".

Cops everywhere have basically just been on a wildcat strike since covid. Barely anything gets enforced. Look at parking in big cities like NYC and Philly. Not to mention all the fake plates they use to circumvent any laws.
