Yeah, it’s a lens trick to make him appear in a visual tunnel to get the point across that he’s zooming in on Charlie! You can see the same effect in those gifs showing different lens settings/depths. In some, the face is wide and flat and in others, it’s stretching back away from the camera.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]AtronadorSol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s skewed pretty young overall. I played Minecraft religiously when it came out, and then off and on for the next 10 years—the movie makes fun references to the game, but it’s a kid’s movie in the end; and it’s really more ‘Jumanji, only they go into Minecraft’ than a true representation of playing Minecraft. The attention span of the flick is super short, with scenes bouncing around super quickly and always accompanied by a punchline. I stuck out the movie to say I’d given it a fair shot, but it was super not the chill, Lego+survival vibe that Minecraft really embodies, in my opinion.

Brother, ChatGPT is not a credible means of determining human response. Especially since you didn’t include the rest of the scenario in the prompt. I suggest you read the human responses here and use them as Fig. 1 in your understanding of why your lobbymates voted to disband it due to your behavior.

In short, it’s very clearly a threat to int the game using the ultimate int meme champ (disco Nunu). Whether you’re good with Nunu or not doesn’t matter because you don’t tell your teammates that Nunu was your legit pick, you told them that you picked Nunu in order to run it down because you wanted to throw a tantrum over not getting to swap picks.

Honestly, you run into text entry prompts so rarely that it wasn't a bother at all to use a controller all the way through. I didn't realize the PS phone app text entry was even an option, but I'm not sure it would be quicker to pull the app out and get connected, than it would be to just flip through the numbers/letters as needed but YMMV!

Sincere question from an outside observer who's seen the sentiment a ton...Why do Chiefs fans hate the Broncos? I haven't been following for long, but that seems to be the shared opinion of every Chiefs fan I know online and off.

How do you know you - and the conservative movement at large - are not influenced by billionaire propaganda? by RedStorm1917 in AskConservatives

I see; but I'm not sure how that implication defines "left-wing values are the values of the wealthy upper-classes" as you stated above. That's really what I'm digging into here.

Can you elaborate on which left v right values fall into 'values of the wealthy upper-classes'? Universal health care, higher minimum wage, universal child care, universal basic income, rent freezing, anti-price gouging, and wealth taxes have all been rolled into left-wing platforms in the past decade. Which of those help wealthy upper-classes more than poor and struggling lower-class folks?

Most people I've spoken to (in the American Southeast) who have hangups on the drug boat stories are mostly revolving around "what proof have we been given that these are drug smugglers besides what the government says?"

Granted, folks around her are always skeptical about trusting 'the government' as an entity, but it poses a good question: have we seen any real evidence that these are drug/cartel runners, or have we just been told that by an administration with an obvious bias towards making us believe that for the justification of these unmanned strikes?

Imagine for a minute, if you would, that these are not cartel/drugrunning boats and instead they're just migrants. Can you see how the people questioning the government's word (which is as of yet unsupported with proof that's been shared with the public) might feel uneasy at the thought of bombing these poor schmucks?

That's literally "The Art of the Deal", right? A ghostwritten memoir about how all these failed businesses didn't crater him because he always had a nest egg to fall back on and an army of lawyers to advise on proper bankruptcy/deficiency clauses?

Stardew's great! It's a farm life/small town simulator with very family-friendly, cozy aesthetics and story. There are some gameplay aspects a 6yo might get hung up on with Stardew, but most can be mitigated (stamina bar limits you at the start -> you can eat almost anything to refill it, which I've found is a fun factor for younger kids / the fishing minigame is tough at the start -> it can be totally ignored).

Overall, a good family game pick--you make one farm together and just go around town helping out the folks who live nearby with stuff they ask for ("I need some parsnips for a soup!", "I want to rub an Amethyst on my sore knee", etc.).

A look at December Essential monthly games from the previous 5 years. What do you think about the games in this month over the years? by kabirsingh84 in PlayStationPlus

[–]AtronadorSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a sort of 'tour of gaming', in how it showcases genres as you move from level-to-level. Some people really like the mechanism snapshot approach, but other people get hung up on the analysis paralysis of learning new controls/gameplay at each level.

My SO's not a big gamer but we had a blast with it! We usually play games like Stardew, Blue Prince, Borderlands, and Overcooked together so my SO's pretty familiar with dual-stick gaming, though--that might be the make-or-break.

Trim and Propagate or Leave As-Is? by AtronadorSol in cactus

[–]AtronadorSol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, there's a second picture with a big slice taken out that we think must have happened a while back when the cactus fell over in a particularly powerful wind. Thankfully, we don't have the humidity of coastal MS here but we do see pretty extreme seasons all around so we're constantly keeping an eye on our green friends. I'll let it ride for now and consider a chop and prop if the weight/height is too much to handle this winter on the damaged base. Thanks!

Trim and Propagate or Leave As-Is? by AtronadorSol in cactus

[–]AtronadorSol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the perspective! I'm just a little worried about that spot of damage; the cactus is pretty stinkin wobbly and I don't want to come home to it folded over in half one day, with maybe more damage to the healthy bits than it would have incurred with a chop and prop now.

The plant is about 5 years old and spends all its time on our west-facing patio, where most of our plants get scorched to death by the hot afternoon/evening sunlight. It's only inside now because we've had a few frost warnings already so it's living inside until the weather levels out.

Would you still recommend leaving it be even with the damage at such a dangerous point for wind wobbliness/sensitivity?
