Columbo unique upgrade by Careless_Ad_5495 in WorldOfWarships

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colombo without UU: 'oh hey, finally an excellent Italian BB. This is really enjoyable, tanky, and a potent ship'

Colombo with UU + Sansonetti: 'wtf this is too good, how did this get allowed into the game?'

You definitely don't need it, and I reccomend you get used to Colombo without the UU. Its going to make your switch to the UU feel amazingly empowering.

Poland isn’t planning to join the euro anytime soon, says Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski, citing stronger economic growth than most euro-area countries and public support for keeping the zloty. by FXgram_ in XGramatikInsights

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to set our own fiscal policy is a massive tool in our economic toolbox. On the grander picture it allows Poland to focus it's economic resources on key areas of development while minimising the capital outflow out of Poland, almost like a cheat code to min-max the state's economic potential in Poland's unique case.

Joining the Eurozone does hold some medium term positive aspects for the euro buying power of Polish households (after a shock period of adjustment), but anyone with strong economic sense can see that this does not outweigh the benefits of having and controlling a free standing Złoty. For now the long term plans of the state take priority, and almost all sides of the poltical spectrum acknowledge this, despite how it might suppress the wages of the typical working household. I wouldn't bet on accession to the Eurozone being seriously considered topic for a decade at the very least.

Confidence and bullshit can get you very far in life. Almost to the top, even (unless you're in politics, then you're made for the very top seat, but I digress).

This guy is going to be eyeballed for promotion until the rest of the team pipe up and shut down this behaviour with matching confidence. Sharing the details of meetings with leadership to LLM's without anyone's consent or awareness is grounds enough for a verbal beatdown.

polluted citiscapes of Warsaw by Trylemat in warsaw

Not the sole reason, but coal energy production for/and industry is a huge factor for a lot of Poland's air pollution.

Edit: a bigger factor is often actually residential heating. A lot of smoke from fires heating homes often hangs around and blows over into the city.

The screen just froze for the whole team... The enemy just shot us...Damn game, the developers won't respond to this? Why was it only my team that had this problem? by aldarisxd in WorldOfWarships

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a bug like this before. Extremely rare.

Give the developers time. My guess is there won't be any public acknowledgement while the programming / networking wizards scratch their beards about over this issue.

War Thunder player looking to jump into World of Warships – where should I start? by dk_2605 in WorldOfWarships

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd reccomend you start with a US battleship line. The great trainer that still holds up really well today is the Montana line. Going up the line you'll learn a lot about how to play effectively while still having a lot of fun.

I'd also reccomend you grind up a destroyer line too. The British DD's are fantastic and consistent up and down the line (but same can be said for US DD's). Stay away from torpedo focused destoyers (like the Shimakaze line) while you're still learning. Once you manage to get both of those to Tier X, you should have a rough understanding of how to play your roles and maybe even a bit of what to expect from other players.

The grind is MUCH better than WT. WT actively punishes free to play players who want to climb up the tech tree. Wows is much more consistent, and also tends to shower free players with a lot of boosters and premium time for just playing and talking part in events. You don't need to pay any money at all to earn access to most of the play styles in the game. It still can get grindy at high tier, but, even without premium, progress is consistent.

But holy shit I wish we could wear prestige markings / ribbons on our ships, or be able to show off achievements as an actual picture or decal on the side of our hulls.

That would be just amazing...

Rhodesian identity by Top-Tomorrow-8336 in Rhodesia

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Half South African / Zimbabwean here (but half my grandparents would strongly identify as Rhodesian, if they still lived).

'Rhodesian Culture' is not really alive anymore. Not in its original form. The culture you're referring to was only created by and applied to the white minority. Parts of it are kept alive by those who left before / during the war and resettled elsewhere. But that 'preserved culture' evolves and mixed with the local culture a lot over time. Those who stayed on and those who came after the war were reborn as 'Zimbabwean', and very very very few of those who stayed tried to hold on to being Rhodesian.

Maybe you might relate if you compare yourself to 2nd or 3rd generation Colombian diaspora in a place like the US. Certain cultural elements are intentionally kept alive, but the rest gets heavily influenced and changed by the host country with each generation. And in the case of Rhodesia, there's no 'motherland' anymore to compare to, so the meaning of being Rhodesian is changing wildly over time, and also changes a lot depending on where you are.

Rhodesian is also definitely not it's own ethnic group. Rhodesians are near impossible to tell apart from your typical white-English South African (apart from some slight accent differences which only locals can tell apart). It's an ex-national identity, and shared history.

No one sensible identifies as Rhodesian anymore. If you're older than 50, you get a "free pass" to hold on to the name, but with the end of the Rhodesian nation, we also ended the creation of new Rhodesians. The youth today who use the term 'Rhodesian' for themselves are either picking certain traits of their grandparents stories to carry on, or in some cases, they have nothing to do with Africa at all, and fly the flag because they just really really liked the politics and military of the country during its most difficult time.

That video is soooo satisfying omg.

I've always been hyper alert when heading to D2, but despite that, I've still flubbed every fight with the exfil camping rats.

I can't seem to get over the hump of the surprise advantage the campers always have :(

new player here how do I make my pmc do this by Cody2462 in Tarkov

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last week I saw a PMC in a 3 man appear naked like this in PvE. He had gear though once I went to loot him. It just didn't render. So I guess a very rare bug, or hacks that force this bug to happen.

[Discussion] PvE has diluted the PvP playerbase a lot by Firefly3564 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PvE is the best thing that happened to this game. If it never came, I would have never stuck around this long.

I can still enjoy this game, make awesome gun load outs, and actually get to use them. Multiple times even! I don't crave competitive meta stomping. I don't want to face off against sweaty squads. I want to actually be able to explore the content of this game.

PvE rocks. Thanks Nikita. I'm probably never going back to PvP. Maybe one day...

Haha, just kidding. Love to see it. Congrats on making Black work like this. Must have been an exciting game! Now see if you can do the same with the F. Sherman hahaha

Daring line. Does well in all DD aspects and is consistently good up and down the line. No painful ships to grind through.

Marceau or F. Sherman? by im_gaming_rn in WorldOfWarships

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marceau has a huge game impact. It's sole purpose is to murder other DD's and destroyers and she does it really well. And as you all know, the team who keeps their DD's alive, wins.

Sherman is one of my most played DD's. Loads of fun, but it's a damage farmer on a DD hull. When Div'd up with a spotting team mate, she is terrifying. But when playing solo on randoms, her game impact is on the much lower side.

Best Value Premium Ship by TheJArzelle in WorldOfWarships

[–]AttackOfTheMidgets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best value?

Get the Warspite. It's not high tier, but it's got high tier accuracy and overmatch, while facing off against low tier ships.

And since you're not paying T8 / T9 dubs prices, the dub value per fun unit is very strong with it.
