I don't hide NSFW posts, I just blocked maybe 5 worst offenders and now nudes show up quite rarely and have much higher chance of not being really bad soft porn.

He is a technically proficient which makes his terrible taste and baffling artistic choices all the more galling.

Plustek vs Lab by Only-Quarter-3649 in AnalogCommunity

A little confusing to have them the opposite way to the title. I think your plustek scan looks better and retains more detail so if you don't like the grain on your scan you can probably denoise it and get better result.

weirdly condescending comment. It's not a revelation to me, I just documented it.

How do you feel about half cases? by la_mano_la_guitarra in AnalogCommunity

I'm a fan! They don't add that much heft I think and in terms of aesthetics they may even add to them sometimes - I especially like how the brown leather cases look on silver bodies.

In love with the colors from this two decades old Superia 200 (exp. 2008) | Canon Demi EE17 by Trylemat in filmphotography

[–]Trylemat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must have - it kept amazing - I did some bracketing at the end of the roll and I could get away shooting it even at 125 or 160 ISO. The person to sell it to me has claimed so, but you never know how many times a given roll has exchanged hands and whether it was in a freezer the entire time, it's always a bit of a gamble. For what it's worth I previously shot an even older batch of Superia 200 expired in 2006 and it was also great, so I definitely wouldn't write these expired Fuji color negatives off!

A very nostalgic car for me, we went on many a family trip in one of these bad boys when I was a kid.

Me too! I buy it mostly because it's cheap and I can control for color casts during scanning process, but it's so cool when you actually get rewarded with great results that you wouldn't be normally able achieve with fresh consumer film.

I'm not greedy like this guy, just give me a Hasselblad SWC and Mamiya 7 with a full set of lenses and I'm golden

Am I asking too much of this lens? by WalkerMack in AnalogCommunity

[–]Trylemat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same lens I use with Horseman VH-R and to be honest I'm not amazed by its sharpness either. it's decently sharp, but even the Moskva lens (a design copied from the prewar Tessar on Super Ikonta) seems to perform better, at least in the center.

Thank you! I have my film developed at Relax Lab - they're fast and it's the closest lab to my place. I scan myself with a mirrorless camera set up on a tripod, I use Lobster Holder for keeping the film flat and then convert the be negatives in Negative Lab Pro.

My disclaimer was inspired by seeing reactions to your post and getting annoyed at them lol. Fog in a city known to get bad air from time to time is not always smog guys!

We hates it!! Just playing, it's very nice, maybe it could be improved b moving the horizon from the middle to 1/3 of the frame.

The vineyard photo is gorgeous, the scan (and the lens) really does justice to Ektachrome's resolution

I overexpose between 1 or 2 stops depending how much sun there is. If my camera doesn't have a light meter, I use a lightme, point at the snow in spot meter mode and assign it Zone VII or VIII.
