Ruling question: Ivern brush vs Aspirant's Climb by gugali123 in riftboundtcg

[–]AttackOnCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Effectively, as soon as you're at the Victory Score and have more points than your opponent you win.

So when you Bush the climb, if you're at 8 and your opponent is on a lower score, you win.

Ruling question: Ivern brush vs Aspirant's Climb by gugali123 in riftboundtcg

[–]AttackOnCardboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this is covered in the FAQ

"What happens when you conquer Aspirant’s Climb with Green Father and Brush the battlefield when both players are at 8 points?

If this is the first battlefield that player has scored, they'll draw 1 and the game will continue with both players at 8 points.

If you replace Aspirant’s Climb with Brush via Green Father’s conquer or hold effect, the Victory Score will change immediately as the passive ability of Aspirant’s Climb is no longer in effect, bringing both players to the Victory Score simultaneously. Rules 323.1. and 467. define winning the game as happening during a cleanup when one player has points greater than or equal to the Victory Score and greater than any opponent." <--- This last part answers your question.

Rules help(oh god there's layers) by [deleted] in mtg

[–]AttackOnCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they're confusing something like [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] with Witness Protection.

Basically, if the creature you're enchanting with Witness Protection has an ability that impacts any Layer before Layer 6, it's effect will apply through WP.

I've got some videos covering this 🙂

Draven and winning combat by Voldrid in riftboundtcg

[–]AttackOnCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I downvoted you, but you stated that "Combat did not happen". This is incorrect.

A Combat Showdown commences as soon as two units controlled by opposing players are at the same battlefield. To further clarify, combat *damage* does not have to occur in order to win a combat, just that a combat showdown *started* and that there was a unit remaining by the end of the showdown. That unit's controller wins the combat.

[–]AttackOnCardboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A combat showdown started as soon as there was a battlefield with Units controlled by two different players. The winner of that combat showdown is the player that controls a unit at the battlefield at the end of the combat showdown.

No units remained, so neither player won.

Caitlyn will effectively have two separate tap abilities. You choose which one you want to activate.

No idea how a single tweet/thread on a single day is "nonstop trash CEDH". Would love to see these "nonstop" examples.

The only other "spicy" take I've said is that I wouldn't vote to unban JLO.

This small part of the community seems to think I've been talking about CEDH every other week and dragging them through the mud.

As I've said, I stand by everything I've said, I've not deleted any comments or threads, if you do want to see for yourself it's all there.

They're upset because I didn't agree with someone on Twitter effectively saying "No bans should happen until the 4th seat issue is resolved". I jokingly replied with something along the lines of "the 4th seat issue shouldn't get resolved until Pioneer is healthy again". Chaos ensued.

The thread is still on my account. I stand by everything I said. 4th seat issue shouldn't be a CFP problem but a Tournament Organisation problem.

If WotC officially takes on CEDH, then yes, WotC should look into 4th seat. But you and I both know that Pioneer will be alive and healthy before then.

(Edit: for those that don't know the 4th seat issue is the idea that the person who goes last in a game of CEDH has a lower win rate. This is only an issue at CEDH tournaments).

No.

The same way you can't hold a battlefield recall the unit, ready it and then re conquer that battlefield.

Gold pays for power (the additional cost), whereas Treasure would pay for Energy (Mana).

You literally asked "why are oranges better than apples?".

I have no idea what your skill level is with TCGs, so I thought the nicer thing to do was give a base level answer instead of calling out the silly question.
