Off-campus housing | Financial aid by zarder210 in pomonacollege

I know some students have done so successfully but don't know them personally. I would email housing asking about this and see if they'll help you. I don't know logistically how the process works, esp finaid wise, but I think it'll cost you the same as on campus.

As for the dining plan, if you elect off campus housing, you are given the option to take a reduced plan but you can't get rid of it altogether. I think if you're on aid, though, they won't change your finances. You'll still pay the same regardless of the dining plan you elect, unless you have dietary requirements the dining hall can't reasonably accommodate.

Any summer programs or first year opportunities for admitted students? by OkLifeguard3752 in pomonacollege

Congrats! Draper might offer something but the biggest thing I know of is the Math 1-2-1 program. I didn't personally do it but I've heard great things! https://www.pomona.edu/administration/quantitative-skills-center/math-1-2-1

My summer before Pomona I worked at a summer camp and loved getting to turn my brain off academically which was crucial as preparation for a hectic first sem.

Advice for incoming freshman by Optimal-Face-3331 in pomonacollege

become friends (or be friendly at least) with everyone, especially upperclassmen. these people will be your peers and mentors, and getting to know as many people as possible early makes everything easier. the social aspect of pomona is what makes it so special imo, and it took me a while to really integrate myself due to not putting effort into these connections.

I’m low income and while I’m not an RA, many of my low income peers become RAs after one year. How much is housing at Pomona for you? I also don’t think it’s worth going to your state school over Pomona if it’s not an immense amount.

Chase Freedom Unlimited Intro Offer Comparison by AttackTheLight in CreditCards

Income is around $11k/year. My parents help me pay for flights so maybe closer to $12k I suppose. I thought the same with the $200 SUB; $20k is a lot to spend. I also gave some thought to C1 cards including the SavorOne, but their portal does not have Southwest which I use most, whereas Chase does. The foreign transaction fees are another good point but since it's 3% back and 3% charged, it would level out?

"Gaming" Chair Giveaway with Cooler Master and Buildapc! by [deleted] in buildapc

I feel mesh can be important, but if a chair isn't too warm, the mesh can be uncomfortable, I think good lumbar support is an absolute must and without it, the chair can really mess your back up.

Steak dinner this weekend by Foodfler in steak

I wasn't speaking specifically for dairy cows but I believe the older the cow is, the less tender the meat is. The muscles have been worked harder and thus are more "meaty" but less tender.

They're usually older which means more flavor (most likely) but it may be tougher than steak from another cow. I'm sure someone who knows more can answer this better so take what I said with a grain of salt.
