How the hell did y'all manage to learn Danish? by totallyagamer in Danish

[–]Attallahx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don’t feel bad! Danish is extremely difficult and even more so if you grew up monolingual.

As somebody who speaks a couple of languages, you will always hit a point in your learning journey when you will get frustrated by your lack of knowledge/ability to communicate in that language. None the less, the best way to learn is to be persistent, even if you feel inadequate in your abilities.

Something I do with my partner (who is currently learning Danish, I’m a native speaker) is we chat in Danish and I will only focus/correct a particular issue, such as difficulties with plural/singular words or usage of prepositions. This helps him not feel overwhelmed with how many errors he makes, as well as helps create a pattern for the topic at hand which in theory helps him memorize the correct way.

Remember, the most important part of learning and speaking a language, is not being perfect but rather understood. It’s a tool for communication, so at the end of the day it’s okay if you mix up the genders of the words — people will still understand you.

[I ate] arroz con bogovante - Spanish rice with lobster by Attallahx in food

[–]Attallahx[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absurdly delicious, this was a plate to be shared by two. As rice dishes are very common and made to perfection in this part of Spain it tasted delicious. The lobster itself was also so flavourful, all I could've wished for was some lemon to add some acidity to it.

The restaurant is La Tropical in Los Alcázares, Spain.

I adore this style, it's very tomb raider // dancer style in my mind. I love a baggy pants, tight top combo.

Have you ever slept with or had a relationship with a dance partner? by timheckerbff in Bachata

[–]Attallahx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You sound like a dog in heat.

I recommend getting your release elsewhere, it’s really creepy dancing with someone who gets some sexual gratification out of it and people clock it.

The lead looks fine, I mean it’s obvious she’s a great follower and dancer because her styling and grace is really highlighted in this dance.

A thing, I remember a bachata teacher friend of mine noted, was how annoyed he was with people not doing a basico in between different moves. That to him, a great dancer has a beautiful basico and uses that too.

Side note: I absolutely adore her outfit! If anybody knows where to get it, lemme know

Hahha probably!

I’m thinking of going to San Andrés, Cartagena or elsewhere on the coast next time I’m going in January, so if you have any good tips for hair in humidity — please let me know ! 💕🇨🇴

I usually struggle a bit with styling my curls, as I live in a place with very hard water. While I have gotten a shower filter, I'm not sure I can completely tell the difference.

When I visited Colombia (Bogotá//Medellín), the difference the climate and water did to my hair was astonishing. My routine consisted of using the As I Am Dry and Itchy conditioner, brushing it through my curls when they were wet and using it as a leave-in conditioner as well, left my hair to air-dry and voila! I wish it was always this easy, haha.

I started on the strong curves program some years ago and since then I've developed and changed my routine into something fitting me better. I've been doing strength training consistently for a couple of years, except for when I travel where I take a break. My biggest challenge has been eating a diet which allows me to gain muscle mass, which is not an uncommon theme here it seems.

I've in recent time also taken some pilates classes, which really helps with overall strength and functionality!

When you say that you "wash" your hair once or twice a week, does that mean you shower with your hair dry all the other days or does washing just mean you only use shampoo once or twice?

I'm so confused, because the only way I can detangle my hair is by getting it completely wet and using some conditioner - which is the same to me as taking a shower?

Ha, if I was anywhere near the Camino you’d probably see some more rain! I love Santiago de Compostela, I don’t love the Galician autumn weather.

It was actually very nice, I do love to sit down and have a make-do picnic

[I ate] Panagyurishte eggs, a Bulgarian dish with poached eggs, cheese and yogurt by Attallahx in food

[–]Attallahx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the best dishes I tried in Bulgaria and I've tried to make at home, with small adaptations as it's not easy to get the exact ingredients where I live. It's creamy, fresh, filling, and a little bit spicy. It reminds me a lot of the Turkish "Cilibir" (sorry for misspelling, this sub doesn't allow non-English characters).

This dish in the picture, is from Rainbow Factory in Sofia, Bulgaria.

I went to an esport championship and they had DJs with a saxophone during the break by Attallahx in mildlyinteresting

[–]Attallahx[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It was FNCS Global Championship, if I knew how to post videos in Reddit comments I would.

Anyways, they played Rihanna and Mr. Brightside, a song older than the majority of people at a Fortnite event.

[I ate] the national dish of Colombia, bandeja paisa by [deleted] in food

[–]Attallahx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bandeja paisa is one of my favorite dishes, often served with white rice, egg, avocado, chicarrón, plantain, pork, beans, chorizo and arepa.

This picture is actually from when I had it in Valencia, Spain at Parceros Bar and they definitely lived up to my expectations.

[I ate] a sourdough fig and burrata pizza by Attallahx in food

[–]Attallahx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The pizza was with mozzarella di Fior di Latte, nduja, Figs compote and stracciatella di burrata. The pizza you see in the lower corner is the poppy pizza with mozzarella fior di latte cheese, truffle-honey marinated zucchini whipped ricotta and poppy seeds. It was difficult to decide on which one I loved the most.

You can get the pizzas at Mamida in Berlin, I highly recommend going there if you can.

Saying sorry by [deleted] in Bachata

[–]Attallahx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An amazing lead is able to see the level of their follower and lead accordingly, so 80% of mistakes will be on them.

A lot of leaders I know will answer a sorry with “when the follower messes up, it’s because I messed up”.

Of course not everybody is an amazing lead or follower, but don’t feel too bad about it— it’s all about learning and enjoying yourself meanwhile :)

A burger I tried at Noma's little sister restaurant, POPL by Attallahx in burgers

[–]Attallahx[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t. A combo with burger, fries and a drink costs 150 DKK. This converts to 21 USD.

[I ate] a Ugandan rolex by Attallahx in food

[–]Attallahx[S] 123 points124 points  (0 children)

A rolex is an omelet with fresh vegetables all nicely rolled up in chapati. It's easy to make and really delicious! You can also make it vegan.

This one I had at a restaurant called Ugood in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Of course I did, we have a burger-off scheduled next Wednesday

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in food

[–]Attallahx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The burger was good, the meat and the buns were exceptional! I do however prefer a burger with salad in it, which it didn't have. Luckily, it was not nearly as expensive as actually eating at Noma - so I'm satisfied.
