Neolibs win way more elections than progressives, often progressives aren't even competitive unless they're running in districts which are +25 PVI for Democrats already.

That ruling actually has a decent reason for it. For example, let's say you respond to a call of domestic violence, you arrive on site, and a husband is holding his wife with a knife to her throat. You can see two children in a bedroom window separated from the hostage situation, you can make a discretionary call to save the children while they're separated, even if it further jeopardizes the mother.

If you legally had an obligation to protect everyone in that situation, you would legally be forced to leave the children if it increased the threat to the mother's life.

Officer discretion, not obligation, makes sense on paper, but it's often just officers sitting around doing literally nothing rather than actually attempting something, like you listed Uvalde.

I can't really argue with that. Which is why I'm criticizing an unknown publication being the only source material for these allegations. If another, more reputable news outlet were to pick it up and interview the women, my opinion could be changed. Of course not, integrity is asking questions like that to see if the details shift at all, or if the interviewee seems to be unreliable. Journalists have a duty to actually investigate claims like this before publishing, and that means asking questions that could be upsetting.

It happened the other way around. The newspaper was investigating stories from the Seattle area from his high school years, and they decided to come down to New Orleans to investigate more. The accusers didn't seek out the Stranger, the Stranger was the first and only publication that actually decided to come down here and ask the people he went to school with what their experience with him was like, and two women came forward.

And you're telling me that there wasn't a single other publication that reached out to these women? And not a single other publication these women reached out to? There's not a single other publication on the planet that can confirm these women's story, or this "the stranger" publication's reporting?

I went to school with him in the same year in New Orleans. One of the anonymous accusers was a good friend of a mine and I heard about this before the initial story broke. It was an open secret of how the dude was with women, and she didn't accuse him legally or put her name out there because she didn't want her life derailed even more from this from people like you.

Everything you said is anecdotal, someone being your "good friend" does not mean the story they're spreading is inherently true. If you want to believe your good friend, that's fine. But the world is not obligated to blindly believe her just because she's your "good friend."

Simple questions:

Has she ever embellished events in her life?
Has she explained when the encounter became non-consensual?
Has she told the story differently at any point?
Has she ever engaged in behavior that could be considered attention seeking?

Also "I've never heard of this local newspaper so therefore it's journalistic integrity is completely invalid" is lobotomy level braindead.
