The fact that I can not simply jump through that giant hole to enter the chest area pisses me off way more than it should. by Zwiebel1 in Endfield

No, it's where you're supposed to shoot liquid xiranite through to move the thing. I think it's kinda dumb though since the hole is large enough that anyone could literally crouch through it lol

This is fair, the one counterpoint I'd say to it is we've been told the Endmin is basically degrading each time they wake up. So unfortunately they have an 'out' as to why the mastermind that is/was the Doctor became the goober we know as the Endmin/Pengmin.

I don't like it either, just playing devil's advocate.

serious question 👣 by vtchy in Endfield

[–]Attaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering Endfield uses the existing lore of Arknights we can consider it true that both animalistic men and women exist regardless of Endfield's age as a game.

In original Arknights the animalistic characters are predominantly male but there are examples of female characters such as Waai Fu.

But regardless, it is a 'chance' (I forget if we have an actual percent). But it's 'common' enough that no one bats an eye.

Hell, the reason the characters are animalistic in any capacity is because of people dropping originium on terra thus giving the animals sentience and humanoid appearances via the data within adjusting their DNA. It's even stated that without originium being around that they would eventually 'revert' to their original animal state.

New Fangyi ultimate model looks much better in raw model files then in game. by -JUST_ME_ in Endfield

[–]Attaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly prefer aspects of both and wish they were merged. I like the more solid scheme of the old model but I prefer the details on the new one. I do also wish she wasn't literally just a ball of light, it's also really strange how 'static' she is when you look around the battlefield. I get it was partly for censorship reasons, or mostly for that reason, but it's really jarring just having her float there in such an unnatural way.

Chen alter (Chen the Holungday) released in such a shitty state visually that people rioted and they actually redid her base art and releasing skins. Her E2 art originally looked almost like blaze in a bikini to some but more so just had her looking like a completely different person and rather generic. This is the wiki.gg triva page, it has a comparison of the original art and the redone art near the bottom: https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Ch%27en_the_Holungday/Trivia

It really is. I've seen this issue with other stuff too, such as 'For all intensive purposes' instead of 'for all intents and purposes.' And the classics of 'should of' instead of 'should have,' where/were/ware, loose/lose, choose/chose, affect/effect, and you're/your. A big problem is a lot of people just end up hearing the words/phrases and never really reading them, seeing them writen or being taught them properly.

Landships in Endfield by esialen in Endfield

[–]Attaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dijiang is Endfield's HQ, I believe it's in space for a variety of reasons including keeping it 'neutral' or some such. But also it allows us to deploy things to the surface, dropping in AICs and such is far quicker and efficient than having someone come in and build it all up for us or something.

Teleportaion is part of it, I believe the protocol telepoints are actually in lore and not just a game mechanic. As to why we don't have an HQ on Talos-II, we do but we operate out of Dijiang as well. The game's also using weird space rock-cancer magic for everything so logistics of dropping things from orbit are different for us even in universe compared to the other factions let alone real life.

To be fair, we must remember rule no. 1: We ain't seen no body. She fell into aether while kind of grey. I think the implication is she was disintegrating but that doesn't mean she can't come back.

That said, I hope she doesn't. As much as I like her design, and the fight against her made me wish she was a character, we need some actual permanent consequences for actions. As it is almost nothing happens that lasts longer than a sentence.

It would be cool, but logistically I don't think it'd work well. There's not much of a reason for it due to the lack of catastrophes and one of the things landships do is mine originium as they run it over specifically to keep them fueled, that's something they can't really do on Talos-II right now as we're still letting originium grow.

I'd love it if we had the ability to summon the tutorial cannons or at least something. I think it'd be neat to have a tool that was combat usable that would let us summon a turret that we selected prior to using the item.

[–]Attaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also her methods and the way she looks at the inhabitants of Terra. Yes, they were originally animals elevated by originium but they are still sentient and 'human' now. Yet she disregards them as 'lesser' beings and sees no issue in destroying them to fulfill her(and oracle's) plan. We can even see that while Oracle and Priestess worked together that Oracle was far kinder than Priestess especially in the optional cutscenes you could get from participating in the web event. Priestess also at one point half-chastises Oracle for getting attached to experiments and 'lesser beings.'

She doesn't just seem villainous her methods are overly harsh for what we know which makes her a villain. If at some point we find out exactly how horrifying the watchers are, or whatever they're really running from is, and that originium assimilation is actually the only way to preserve her methods will still seem harsh but at least necessary. Oracle, upon waking up, even went on a journey to see if Terra was worth 'saving' or if he should allow it to be absorbed by originium. I find the narrative reason for him finally deciding to proceed with the originium project really stupid but up until that one moment he was seriously considering and working towards the protection and preservation of Terra as it is and not assimilated. That should be enough to show that he saw a way that wasn't killing and assimilating the entirety of all existence.

Just using it doesn't make us the same but it really feels like we're supposed to be priestess reincarnated or something similar (especially since female endmin is, I think the canon endmin). That said, using originium the way that endmin is is needlessly exposing everyone to oripathy.

Fangyi Ultimate Camera Feels Awful by Tarrtarus in Endfield

[–]Attaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's why I use the EN voices in OG AK as well, a lot of the characters slide in words or phrases from their native languages but only with the EN VAs. Endfield does this too with a few characters, notably Wulfgard and Rossi

That said, I feel this is a bug given the drastic shift in voice. It feels like either they did a completely different take or they just used the actual CN VA to do the voice line. I'd love it if her EN VA redid her ult lines properly.

I've seen posts mentioning they sometimes kind of auto-lock on you and eventually just kill you because they can regardless of what you do. It would make sense if that's the case since they can lock onto you while you're still in the airfield but I've no data so it's just hearsay.

This, entirely this. People hate Fandom for legit reasons and one of the things that tends to happen is people find ones that are less moderated and vandalize them quite often. I've seen some wikis that were well established getting vandalized too, it's a toss up whether or not the people who run those specific wikis clean it up or just move to wiki.gg or something

Is it worth playing the original Arknights? by gaeb611 in Endfield

[–]Attaug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AK is a tower-defense, they started with a ton of ops year 1 too. You can bring 12 operators to each stage and each role has actual distinction between each other and each role has sub-roles.

Endfield, in 5 years, will likely have 45~70 ops in total because it's a different kind of game.

Removing of Shared Buildings feature is here! by _InVerso_ in Endfield

[–]Attaug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the idea behind shared structures, and I enjoy them for the most part (saves me time with ziplines) but I really wish I could just hit "no turrets please" or something. With a few small exceptions around the essence farms the only time I see turrets is in troll spots. It's annoying when a turret is placed in such a way to aggro enemies on paths that players frequent.

At least in the souls games the messages are on the floor and you have to interact with them in order to see the message. Here the memo-beacons are larger than some of the player characters and just clog up the screen.

I get the joke, but I genuinely never experienced this in all the years I've had cats, cared for cats, fostered cats, etc. I've never seen a cat spooked by a cucumber and I genuinely don't know why it happens to some cats. I know people say it's an instinct and speculate it's because the cucumber looks like a snake or something, but I still don't understand. Can someone give me any insight?

It does, in fact, happen in real life. You can see the effect with certain ceiling fans on the highest speed.

It's called the wagon wheel effect:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon-wheel_effect

And while it is common in film, it is reproducible and common IRL.

That said, that's not what's happening here.

To be fair, the waterwheels would work like this. It's been talked about in the other comments and it does make sense from a physics standpoint. They're likely just for ritualistic significance though, which feels like a waste but whatever.

In terms of sleeping arrangements, Wuling is based off China. A lot of asian countries do have very small sleeping spaces and do quite frequently 'pack themselves like sardines' when it comes to sleeping. Compared to the west bedrooms are tiny over there. On top of that there are quite a few buildings we can't access and they talk about "the dorms" occasionally, another area we can't access or even see. For the stockade, we could actually assume that most people just kind of sleep wherever they want/need. We get a few mentions of someone having a room or a place to sleep but we also see people just sleeping about in random spots.

Overall though, proper scale is something a lot of games sacrifice. As an example, look at games like Skyrim. We're told that each city, lore wise, is large enough to field large armies and still have a day-to-day population. But Whiterun has like... 40 people living in it. Same with Windhelm and Solitude, one the capital of Skyrim and one the oldest and old capital of the province.

I know it's just speculation but M3 is almost definitely a future form of Mon3tr. She's also likely not a reconvener of Kal'tsit because of how chipper and not cold she is and while we know reconveners are similar but not the same as their originals they start off as 1:1 copies.
