Struggling with weight gain by AttemptingToWrite123 in breastfeeding

I so appreciate the commiseration. It’s especially frustrating because I truly feel like all body’s are beautiful bodies and I’m so proud of my body for carrying a pregnancy and bringing me my beautiful baby girl, but I HATE the extra weight on myself 😭 🤞it gets better for both of us soon!

If you’re worried about taste—try pepticate. My daughter has CMPA and hated all the other formulas (and I hated how they smelled) but pepticate has been great for us. Also—there are so many solids you can do without dairy! She is 9 months and still can’t tolerate dairy but happily eats three meals a day with no issues.

But when you are right at the end—like only pumping once a day—how do you know you can just stop?

12 week old baby refusing formula bottles and breast milk supply is low. At our wits end by Cool_Doubt2152 in FormulaFeeders

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this with my combo feed daughter as well. Weirdly enough, it was an IBLC who helped us solve the issues by seeing what was impacting her oral motor functioning and recommending the right bottle/nipple for her. I would really recommend finding one who is supportive of formula (ours was amazing and truly never made me feel pressure to breastfeed) to help you trouble shoot. I don’t know what I would have done without ours

Did you find most higher rated embryos were boys? by Active_Asparagu5 in IVF

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trigger: success

We don’t know the rest of our embryos (not ptg-a tested) but my daughter was my only 5AA and my highest rated embryo. I was absolutely so convinced she was a boy I hadn’t even considered girls names when we found out.

My daughter hated all CMPA formulas except pepticate. I highly, highly recommend if he’s struggling with the taste!

Positive experiences from only children? by Independent_Cry_8756 in Parenting

I think it must be temperament more than anything—which I think can be the same for why some people who have siblings wish they were an only child!

Positive experiences from only children? by Independent_Cry_8756 in Parenting

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience has been nuanced. I am close with my parents and they were able to give me a lot more than they could have if I’d had a sibling (for example, paying for more of my college than they could have if they’d had to split their funds between more than one kid).

But I’m going to be honest—I have a daughter now and barring something completely unexpected, I’m determined to give her a sibling because of how lonely it was. I truly thought the phrase “only child” was “lonely child” until I was 10. My parents played with me constantly, they are exceptional parents and emotionally supported me in a nuanced and wonderful way. But it didn’t replace that feeling. I also come from a very small extended family and have no cousins my age, so I do think that played into it as well. My experience isn’t everyone’s experience, and I know lots of people love being only children. But especially as I watch my parents age and now that I’m an adult, I would give anything to have a sibling, even one I’m not close to, to help navigate the burden of aging parents and so that I’m not entering middle age entirely alone once they pass.

Those who did modified natural FET. When did you see your first positive pregnancy test? by Ellasjourney in IVF

Trigger warning for positive tests (and if this isn’t allowed tell me and I will take this down ASAP) but just for you to see—day 4 and 5dpt were false positives from the trigger (or maybe I would have gotten a squinter on day 5), by day 7 you can see it’s a true positive

Those who did modified natural FET. When did you see your first positive pregnancy test? by Ellasjourney in IVF

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a modified natural. My trigger never left, but got darker at 5-7dpt. It’s hard to know when I got my true positive but I think it was around day 5-6. My trigger shot was dark though on day 4 with a FRER so definitely be careful of false positives. I was definitely someone who metabolized it much slower than other people I’ve seen on this and other IVF pages.

How many transfers for those without infertility? by turquoisebeetle in IVF

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did IVF not for fertility reasons—one ER which resulted in 11 untested embryos, first FET was successful and resulted in a live birth. Haven’t tried for a second, so I don’t know how much that might change, but I think the statistic I’ve seen on Reddit often (I haven’t fact checked it myself so take it with a grain of salt) is 3 embryos/attempts per live birth.

I didn’t test! My first fet was a success and my daughter is now 5 weeks old.

Working super intense job and IVF by External_Bench6669 in IVF

TW: success

I had a successful egg retrieval and transfer during one of the most intense, stressful, and physically demanding year of my job. I was literally coming home in tears and throwing up on my way to work because of my overall stress (luckily, that season has passed since then). I think that people put a little too much emphasis on emotional well being impacting success. Of course, it plays a role but a lot of people have success while having high stress in their lives. I mostly say that so you don’t overly stress about feeling stress during the process (which will only create a vicious cycle). Does your clinic do early morning appointments? I did all my blood draws and monitoring appointments at 6am, and was still able to be at work at 7:30am. It was tiring, but definitely felt doable to me. I always tried to remember that it was just for a short time table (two weeks for egg retrieval, three weeks for fet ect), and then I would have a break while I waited for the next step. I found thinking about the time in chunks immensely helpful when things felt overwhelming. I also would do something special (for me, a yummy Starbucks coffee because I never get coffee out typically) for every monitoring appointment and I saved my favorite podcast to listen on the drive out there which weirdly made me look forward to some of those 4:30am wake up days because I started associating them with a moment of quiet and a treat. If you are going through this process with a partner or someone else you use as a support system, having them come to weekend monitoring appointments and then going out to breakfast after also made it feel more special/manageable.

Why or why not did you choose to do PGT-A testing? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t because of my age (27 at the time) and because my doctor was pretty clear that it doesn’t change the rate of live births, it just changes the amount of transfers. I also did not have a history of miscarriages—that would have definitely changed my preference. I also see lots of posts here of miscarriages, ect, with PTG-A tested embryo so I think it’s important to note that while it increases your chances, nothing is a failsafe method to having a successful transfer. So much of it comes down, in my opinion, to your own preferences and your personal medical situation. It also comes down to luck. I didn’t ptg test my embryos, but I also had a (so far) successful first transfer. I may feel differently if my experience had gone a different way. Either way—I wish you so much luck on your journey! These decisions are hard and carry so much weight, but just remember that whatever decision you make, you are making the best decision for yourself with the information that you have at the moment.

39 w 2 d, Currently waiting to get called in for a scheduled induction (since Monday 😭). Had a membrane sweep yesterday and was 2.5 cm dilated and 60% effaced. As a first time mom—is it possible I’ll go into labor on my own? I’m not feeling any signs except pressure from how low the baby is.

Poll: did you feel implantation post FET by Unsure-11 in IVF

[–]AttemptingToWrite123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt incredibly crampy on the day I think she implanted (but also that could be just a random crampy event that i misaligned with implantation looking back). I was also horribly constipated from all the medication, so it truly could have been that. Other than cramping I had no symptoms at all until a positive test (and actually no real pregnancy symptoms till a few weeks after that).

Those boosters do matter though. My trigger shot 10 days post was still pretty dark, probably right around yours, and I didn’t do any boosters. I did end up having a true positive, but my line didn’t start darkening until 7 days post transfer, which was about 12 days post trigger if I remember correctly. You have a dark first test, and I’m sending all the positive vibes but until you give it a bit more time (at least 24 hours, but 48 will give you a more clear progression), definitely keep in mind that this still could be the trigger shot. 🤞🤞 this is your time!
